Late contender for album of the year (I'm still waiting on Pain of Salvations new album though). This came out last week. I got it today, only started listening to it now but I can hear the madness, the complexity, the insane awesomeness that this album breathes.
Long, I know.

MINDFLOW - MIND OVER BODY
Superb second album from this Brazilian progressive metal band will certainly be a contender of disc of the year. This near 80 minute packed disc is a loose collection of songs with an existential/zen mind state slant. The direction of the band is a further refinement of their debut - an amalgam of Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation and even Marillion - but with enough of it's own personality that it will easily escape the clone tag. The disc packaging is also impressive. It features a full color 24 page book, a 28 page comic book, enclosed in a digipak and slipcase. Highest recommendation. (TAKEN FROM LASERS EDGE) Mindflow. Mindblowing. Mindboggling. Mind-expanding. Mind Over Body is truly superb. The liner notes say "This album was not made to be heard, was made to be felt by your heart and sang by your soul." Initially, the album is enigmatic and esoteric, but when you feel it—brace yourself. Mindflow takes their music to a new level of complexity and experimentation, both vocally and musically. All the same heaviness and beauty is still present, however. Some passages are reminiscent of Pain Of Salvation, putting Mindflow in exceptional company. This CD makes me believe in "Mind Over Body." I feel honored to listen to it.
