VST Searching and other music composing help needed...

I have some pretty good snyth VSTS but I could use more. I need to find some good Bass VSTS. I am looking for a low octave Bass... for exmaple, something that sounds like R3'ish (DDR Song) or CIA Rave'ish bass.

    Also...
I have a few programs, but can anyone point out some good audio programs... say Fruity Loops and I will kick your head off. I have no money to buy it, and I refuse to download it illegally... I either get shareware or I buy it. I am legit like that.

Summary for those who hate Walls of Text:
Point out some good FREE VSTS... Bass is needed mostly... but I could use better instrument VSTS, Synth VSTs, and effect ones too.

I could prolly get buy now but I want to submit a song to FFR and I would like to be more prepared... it has to be how I hear it in my head or it wont do.

I can't quite remember the name but I did see a basic subtractive oscillator VST somewhere that was free shareware. It used 3 basic oscs with the usual array of shapes, and I imagine you could produce some decent basses with it and some good tweaking. I'll post it if I find it again.
