Blind Guardian - A Twist in the Myth

Yes, it's here ladies and gentlemen, probably the best album of the year. Blind Guardian's a Twist in the Myth has arrived in stores near your. It's combination of incredibly power/heavy/speed/trash/progressive metal makes a perfect blend in forming BG's new sound. With a new drummer, I feared he wouldn't be as good as Thomen (which btw isn't feeling well, so send him your positive thoughts!!), but he really delivers (don't know if that expression fits). This album is good from the first to the last song. This Will Never End and Otherland jump start the album in an epic and glorious way. Turn the Page is one of Blind Guardian's most happy songs. Then comes Fly, the single of the album. Carry the Blessed home is a very epic ballad, it kicks ass. LionHeart, Skalds and Shadows, The Edge, etc... all good songs (even though I didn't really have the time to listen to them, being too concentrated on listening to the other songs). The album finishes with a very nice song called Dead Sound of Misery with great lyrics, which is probably BG's best song.

    Highlights:

    Otherland
    Turn the Page
    The New Order
    Dead Sound of Misery

It's a great album, buy it now... GO GO GO!!

Lies. It's a good album and all but there have been so many albums that are far better. To name a few:

Flower Kings - Paradox Hotel (Symphonic Prog)
The Tangent - A Place In The Queue (Symphonic Prog)
Wastefall - Self Exile (Prog Metal)
Adrian Belew - Side Three (Avante-Garde)
BT - This Binary Universe (Electronica)
    OSI - Free (Metal)
Trespass - Morning Lights (Symphonic Prog)

Anyway, still a decent metal album, but I'm tempted to even say Rhapsody of Fire's newest album is better.

      Stop downloading music please

No seriously did you listen to it? Because it's really awesome. I still haven't heard Rhapsody (of Fire)'s new album, I'm waiting for it to come out tbh.

I hardly download, and what I do download I also buy, but mainly I get people who have already bought (or downloaded) the albums to send them to me.

I also forgot to include the awesome Mars Volta - Amputechture to the list. That album is amazing.

And yes, I've listened to it, like I said, I would say there are a lot of better albums.

Just go listen to OSI or Wastefalls' albums (as they are the closest in regards to both being metal) and see what you think. I think they are both better.

Well it takes a couple of listens you know. Dead Sound of Misery isn't so good at first, but after you get to really know the song, it's incredible. Anyways, I'm probably not going to listen to the bands you listed because I don't feel like downloading, plus my Limewire isn't working at all. But that's for the suggestions.

EDIT: I also wanted to add that A Night at the Opera is BG's best album.

I know that things take a few listens. Hell I've had albums take around 7-8 listens before they clicked, or other albums take months upon months.

I'm not saying it's not good, it is good, I'm just saying it's not best album material.

Also, I've heard Nightfall in Middle-Earth and this.

I see in your sig you've listened to the new album a lot. How does it sound now? Better?

Yeah what's up with the blind guardian songs being named like that on last.fm haha?

I've listened to it twice more, I like it, it is a damn good album I'll admit that, but I stand by my original points. Still, in time who knows, the best album of the year is still The Tangent - A Place In The Queue followed closely by The Mars Volta's album.

I'll listen a few more times though, it's decent. Though they remind me too much of Rush at times, what with the vocals.

Yeah, I've been a big power metal fan, but I've also seen the greatness in progressive metal, so I look forward in getting this album.

Sorry, but you just can't compare The Mars Volta with Blind Guardian. First off they're totally different genres. Second, BG have been around for more than 20 years, and their sound is much more complex.

But yeah, the first guy who listened to the album tagged them completely wrong and now it's alled effed up.

True, Mars Volta are Art Rock with some jazz fusion and rock and ****.

False, their sound is not more complex, Mars Volta are the pure and unadulterated definition of "Complex".

Pain of Salvation and Agalloch really pulled me back into the genre. Epic, like two listens to their albums and I realized wow this **** is good.

This is all your fault Verruckter. Hell I'm listening to them right now, listened to the album about 4 times, and a couple more on my ipod.
