I'm writing. I only have part of Chapter 1 finished at the moment.
Chapter by chapter breakdown of, "My Year With Mosby."
Chapter 1:
Nathan Edmund arrives in Manhattan to stay with Mosby, who while rich, cannot maintain a steady life without his wife. Mosby shows Edmund around the complex, and shows him to his neighbors, who do not appreciate Mosby's presence. A few days pass and it becomes clear that Mosby is a creature of habit, unwilling to change. Edmund threatens to leave unless Mosby does something. When Edmund awakens he finds his bags unpacked and Mosby walking in clean shaven, announcing that he has enrolled in a film class.
Chapter 2:
Mosby starts bringing friends over, whom Edmund find fascinating but can not feel comfortable around. One night, Edmund phones his nephew, Francis Coach, who drags them uptown to a baseball game where they are almost mugged. On the train ride back, they ARE mugged on the subway, but the attacker is fought off, injured and crying. He claims he has no mney, but has to support an illegitamte son, who is riding in the same car. Coach leaves him with fifty dolalrs, Mosby gives him a pack of cigarettes, and Edmund gives him a lighter, a gift from his current girlfriend.
Chapter 3:
Edmund remains fascinated by the constant flow of people into the apartment. Coach begins spending a fair amount of time with Mosby, as well as a new man, Jericho Frames. Jericho is anothe rstudent at the film school, who Edmund finds out is a small time druggie. Frames and Mosby begin to do drugs etc. One night, they decide to walk to a comedy show. After getting lost and caught in a torrential downpour, they're almost abducted by a city worker, but they escape. They do find the theatre, which is sold out. They decide to ride the train home.
Chapter 4:
Edmund gets a panicked call from his girlfriend, who is still in LA; they decide to break it off for the time being. Edmund goes up to the roof deck and looks out over the city. He briefly considers jumping when a female from the film school steps onto the roof; her name is Jessica Carpenter. She's looking for Francis, but decides to sit and chat with Edmund. Coach steps onto the roof, and Jessica and Edmund follow him back to the apartment, where they find Jericho with a girl, whom he insists is not his girlfriend. And because she is not his girlfriend, he will need to crash at the apartment for a few days.
Chapter 5:
Edmund has been featured in a film that Mosby shot, as Christmas rolls around. Edmund buys Mosby a few tickets to the comedy show, while Mosby buys Edmund a typewriter. Edmund beings to write a few short stories and Jericho decides to take Mosby and Edmund out for Christmas. He takes them out to Brooklyn, where they enter a underground apartment, where to Edmunds disdain, he finds himself in an Opium den. Edmund attaches himself to the back wall with all others who are obstaining from smoking, who are all on edge. When they take the trian back, they find the police swarming at their usual stop. Jericho and Mosby flee, while Edmund curiously approaches the situation. He finds that Francis Coach has been killed, and is clutching the lighter that Edmund gave to the vagrant, naming the vagrant as the killer, who they find frozen to death in Central Park.
Chapter 6:
After the services, Edmund returns to the city to find the neighbors now adore Mosby, who has become smitten with a woman who looks strikingly similar to Shannon (Her name is Alexis). Edmund begins submitting short stories to magazines and begins work on a play. One of the stories is publishes, and Mosby takes Edmund to dinner to celebrate. While there, Mosby introduces him to a few television celebrities and a few executives, who all find Edmund charming. Edmund muses about the people that Mosby has met, and notices that Mosby has in fact regained his charm. Edmund leaves the dinner with autographs and a few phone numbers.
Chapter 7:
Alexis flys out west to see a doctor and it's revealed she has a tumor in her ovaries. After it's removed, things ice over between Mosby and Alexis, and they stop speaking to each other. Mosby takes it in stride, and it doesn't seem to bother him. Edmund, stirred by the news, finishes his play and passes it to Mosby, who in turn gives it to his teacher. His teacher hands it off to a friend, a production agent, who decides to inquire about the play and when production can begin. To celebrate, Mosby and Jericho decide to take Edmund to Coney Island.
Chapter 8:
Jessica tags along to Coney Island with Edmund. On the train, Mosby tosses around a film idea that's absolutley fantastic and Edmund is enamored with the concept. Eric and Jessica talk while Mosby and Jericho ride some of the rides on the Island. All of them take a walk on the boardwalk and at the end of the vening, decide to retire to a hipster restauraunt that specializes in rice pudding. They retire back to the apartment, where Mosby finds and quickly hides a notice. Jericho, Jessica and Mosby all take a valium and pass out, while Edmund trys to write quietly as to not stir them. He gives up and retires to his room.
Chapter 9:
Mosby begins shooting his new film, telling Edmund that he is no longer working with the school. The film is instead going to be entered into a film contest, while Jericho has just secured film rights to an obscure novel. He also admits that he no longer has any money and needs to vacate the apartment, and offers to put Edmund on the lease for their new one. Edmund talks it over with Jessica, who tells him that it sounds great that Mosby has his life in order, and that Edmund should think about himself. Edmund thanks her and tells her goodbye, for now.
Chapter 10:
Edmund flies back west. Mosby and Jericho insist they'll keep in touch. Edmund makes piece with Jessica, and she says she'll write. Edmund begins to recieve royalties on the play and decides to mend bridges that he burned by leaving, starting with his ex-girlfriend. Finally, he sits down and begins work on a novel at his apartment, "My Year with Mosby."
