I did but it won't appear in stepmania when I tried to put it on the background. The selection for it is grayed out....

First of all, check so that the video is in a format that Stepmania is able to recognize. (I don't know all available formats, but .mpg .mpeg and .avi should work atleast)
Go into your simfile, press ESC and enter Preferences, it should look like this:
Turn it on so you can see your movie in editor mode. This is alot easier than exiting the editor and playing your file to see if the movie is there or not.
Press ESC again and enter the option called "Add/Edit BG Change" and add your video if Stepmania haven't already done it for you.Comment
