I agrees with this. I would probably say that 10% of the users of FFR are only here to use the profile system. I think this should definitely be done, to ensure that actual players of FFR use the profile system, not some gay MySpace ***.

Seriously dude... stop making suggestions that will stunt the growth of the site or will turn off certain current groups of users.

I meant the rank that appears in siggies, Tass.

And really, it wouldn't stunt the growth of the site. It would help it. People would come here just for a profile, find out they have to play the game to get one, then they'd get all of their friends to play and get profiles.

Really, if they're not willing to play the game at all, they shouldn't be here. If they're here just for a profile, they should just go to myspace since that's not only what that whole site is for, but there are a lot of people who are there for the same sole reason.

Yea... me too. Go check the rank of someone who hasn't played. It'll say like 720,000.... which means we have 960,000 registered users. and over 720,000 of them have played at least 1 game. I think that's a pretty decent ratio, given how many random usernames are made up for whatever reason.

This makes no sense. The site can handle the amount of traffic, and it appears Synth encourages people to use it, so I don't see the problem. If you don't like a group of people, you tolerate them, not try and get rid of them. Someone tried to do that once, his name was Hitler. (I'm obviously not calling you Hitler Afro, it's just the point.) This is just like that TWG stretch where people refused to play with Tass, just deal with it. I realize the intent of this thread was to suggest an idea to help the concern that FFR is turning Myspace-esque, but I don't see how they are going to bring down the site. I haven't seen one profiles person come in and spam up the forum, so I don't see what the problem is. FFR has a lot of sub-communities that co-exist without much negative interference from the others(Chat, BB, TWG, TGB).

More members=better.

I agree completely. The problem is that if people are just coming here for profiles, they'd be better off at Myspace. When it comes to the other sub-communities, everyone has some connection to FFR. It's not like people heard "oh hey there's this site with a message board go post there" and we thought "ok i'll just go post on the message board... oh wait you say the site's actually about a game? oh well"

The point isn't to get rid of them at all. It's to make them actually play the game and realize that this site is not simply another means for them to be annoying and post on people's profiles.

It's happened. In fact, I think it's happening right now in the Garbage Bin.

Honestly, I really don't care too much (as long as the stupid ones stay out of the forums, or are controlled-- and they are... not necessarily through staff intervention but more through forum-wide flaming of the person until they stop posting as they are), it's just that I saw this idea posted and it was shot down without any consideration when I think it'd be a viable solution to this situation.

You're treating FFR profiles like a bastard son of FFR. There is more to FFR now than just the game itself, it's just that is what the site was originally intended for. Yes, the presented idea would work fine, aside from Tass's rebuttal. The point is, although I don't like speaking for other people at all, I think Synth just wants people to visit FFR and do what they want. Feeling obligated to do something to do something seems silly. I don't know : \

it used to have the photo/video vallery for each person, but thats gone.

Profiles
Vid Chat
MP & MP Chat

See? They all have something to do with this community, but not all have something to do with R1. Yet certain people only come for 1 or 2 of the above, while others take advantage of all of them.
