Normally, I dislike threads like this. They seem kind of pointless, like no real discussion is going on. However, I saw a thread on the WoW forums, and some of the stories in there have made me thankful for how safe my life has been overall.
So, what is the one thing that has had you more fearful than ever before? Feel free to spice it up a little (describe surroundings, people, etc.), but don't go overboard.
As for me, I really can't remember anything overly scary. I think my mind just blocks them out after a while, which can be a good thing.
Right now, the worst thing I can think of was when I was out at the bus stop (thankfully, I drive now) waiting for the bus to come. It was a pretty dark morning, and I was out earlier than usual. In addition, nobody else in the little neighborhood was outside that morning--usually, there were 3 or 4 others.
I was waiting there in the dark, barely able to see, when this old pickup truck slowly drives around the corner of the street I was on. The headlights were extremely bright, so I couldn't see anything except bright lights. By now, I was starting to feel a little uneasy. I was wondering why these people seemed to drive up to me and stop and why they had their bright beams on.
Next, one guy gets out of the truck and starts coming my way. Keep in mind that there was nobody else watching: just me, the guy walking, and the guy driving. As he came closer, I slowly put my books down, watching his every move. Once he got within about 10 feet of me, I started walking away towards my house, making no sudden movements.
I managed to get inside with no problem, which made me feel very relieved. I ended up getting my mom to drive me that day.
Strangely enough, I found out who the mysterious person was, though I wasn't able to see him in the dark. It was just another kid riding the bus. He missed his stop, and his dad drove him to my stop to avoid the longer drive to school.
I know, it's not extremely scary, and being a bewildered freshman at the time made it worse. But it's what I can remember. Now tell yours.
