what do you think of speed mods in stepmania? like 2x, 4x, C400, would you call them NOOBISH? because i can't finish songs like emerald sword withotu turning on a 2x mod. should i stop using 2x and go back to 1x?

It's not newbish, playing a song at your own rate is all about optimising your ability.
If you were to run a race would you prohibit yourself to wearing the worst boots that you've owned all your life, or would you replace them with state-of-the-art trainers that help your speed.
Same with SM, you are merely improving yourself. -

No, it just means you cannot read a bunch of arrows clumped together. Playing at 1x would hurt my eyes. Personally, I would rather enjoy playing the game to having my eyes get raped.Comment

Almost think of it as a different talent. I myself can barely read anything less 600bpm, I prefer ~800. And then there are people like Macgravel who play on 1x and can kick my ass. Its all about where you feel comfortable.

It is, because any "C" mod ignores any change in arrow speed, for instance, when playing a few versions of Max Forever, under a "C" mod it is far easier, unless said "C" mod was say 800 or 900. personally I like 2.5x-4x

I dislike C-mods because they eliminate all the fun of pauses/speedchanges. Songs like QQQ would be mediocre without them. I think speedmods are a decent tradeoff, easier to read but the notes scroll faster, oh to have speedmods on FFR *wistful sigh*

and it pause everytime it says "pump it" so then i tried it on c300 and it was hella boring without pausesComment

I play songs on a C600 or C800 mod before trying them on a 2.5x... (change the 600 or 800 to 200 or 400 for songs that are too fast to begin with xD)

You can edit the speed mods, there is a thread in the forum for that. Under "Dance Simulators" I belive (which is where THIS should be I belive)
