Well, I couldn't find a thread about this anywhere, Which is bothering be because I swore that I first heard about this movie here. Anyways, moving on...

Based on the book by the same name http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Scanner_Darkly. Simply because of this book, I've been following this movie very closely. Its a great book, and hopefully it will be a great movie. I won't get to see it until Friday, because thats when the first showing in the chicago-land area is. I'll write my review on A Scanner Darkly after I see it. But until then, mabye someone else has something to add to this, or has been waiting like me to see it, or has already seen it.

    Well, there 'ya go.

I want to see this movie so bad.
They showed that scene where charles fleck is on his bed and he's imaging things in a commercial I watched earilier today.

Oh the website is like an ARG. The weird IMs and how they're counting the number of mouse clicks you had pretty much yells ARG.

I've been following this movie for a year and then I find out that it is limited release. So yesterday I went out and bought the book.

The story that Wired had about this movie was pretty good. This movie was really close to getting pulled from production. I'm glad the staff got together and pulled through.

I honestly don't know a whole lot about this movie.

I do want to see it though.

              Why?

The style is just too good. How did they do that anyway? Just a simple filter over live action? Or is that truly animated over live action? I honestly can't tell.

                      Re: A Scanner Darkly

IGN just got a legal preview of the movie (the first 24 minutes of the movie). The movie should be the first one on the page, just click it and the pop-up window should play the movie.

For those who didn't read the book, this should clue you in to what's going on in the movie.

Let me warn you the preview is NSFW. When you click on this link, you acknowledge that you are allowed to view this kind of material. I am not responsible if you get in trouble because of it.

I was holding it and they sawthe cover, it was either VALIS or
The Man in the High Castle, and it ahd a computer generated
naked guy on the cover, so they laughed and said something
like, "Mitch's reading a book with a naked guy on the cover and
it's by a guy named Dick. HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! HA!"

Robert Downey Jr needs to win some kind of award for consistantly being an amazing actor.
"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."

"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor

                            My new novel:

                            Maledictions: The Offering.

                            Now in Paperback!

                              Re: A Scanner Darkly

Ok, I just saw it, and it was good. I had watched the preview thing that shadowskill linked and thats exactly what happens. The whole rotoscoping thing is weird but you get used to it very quickly and it fits the mood of the movie perfectly. Only thing I didn't like really (trying not to give away plot here) was that they didn't spend enough time at the one place right before the last place/scene. In the book, they go into better detail and it shows a change in arctor as something more gradual instead of this big jump. Other than that I was practically blown away by it. There was a lot more comedy than I remembered from the book, but it was very well done.

I highly recommend both the book and the movie.
