Avenged Sevenfold - Waking the Fallen

What is going ON here? I've only listened to a few songs so far, but I can already tell that the style is very different from that of City of Evil. I can't even tell if the singer is the same. Sometimes it sounds like him, but there's way, way more screaming. Funny how this is harder rock than City of Evil, but the latter was the one that warranted the Parental Advisory label.

I'll edit this post as soon as I've listened to more and if/when I figure out if the group is all the same. Hopefully someone here knows more about this than I do.

In any case, I'm not disappointed. It's not what I expected, but it's still great music.

edit: The band members are static through both CDs. How weird. I didn't even know this guy could scream like this.

I didn't know they were coming out with a new CD.
I was extremely disappointed with the last one, though.

Waking the Fallen is an old CD. Well, it's not old old, but it's from '03. I don't think they're releasing a new album anytime soon. Don't know why you'd be disappointed with City of Evil, though.

It's the same singer, it's been the same singer pretty much the whole way through, same with band members as far as I can remember.

What's wrong with a singer being able to suddenly scream more? He could have just held back before. Sure look at singers like Mikael Akerfelt (Opeth) who can do both lots of screaming and calm singing.

I like Avenged Sevenfold but they wont be releasing anything as good or as screamer as before cause there lead singer poped a blood vessel in his throat so he cant scream anymore. So listen to Senses Fail or something there better anyways.

Waking The Fallen is the better of it and city of evil. (I haven't listened to much Sounding The Seventh Trumpet) The musicianship, the music, the vocals, and for the most part, the lyrics, are better.

            To answer your questions,
Same vocalist, Matt Shadows. He popped a blood vessel in his neck, and he can't scream anymore.

            And a correction:
After a review, the cd version of waking the fallen was give a parental advisory label because of the partially violent lyrics. (bull****)

I'm not a great music critic or anything, but I really enjoy listening to City of Evil. I didn't notice much change aside from the vocals.

Thanks, just heard this from a friend. That's pretty sad, but I think City of Evil turned out quite well considering this.

That's odd; mine didn't have one, and I just bought it recently. What exactly do you mean by the "cd version"? And I agree with you, that's total crap.
