    Out of some odd memory

Playing with Mozilla Firebird on win98 I can usually download and play 2 songs and after that it looks like some sort of cache is full, as while it's loading the third song it starts showing a wrong set of steps and there's no music. On the fourth try it just skips loading everthing completely and sends me back to the menu.

Also, I'm asking if it's normal that it loads the music in the game screen and not in the menu. It does this always for me. I have to hit some keys when I see the net traffic subside and load the song again to play it.

A couple of times I've been left fingering some random step file with no music playing and it still counted the high score as if it was that song. I suspect there aren't too many hackers and that they are mostly just bugs like this.

Emptying the cache wouldn't be an optimal solution as I would really like to have all of the songs on my computer. Doing it doesn't help at all though, and the problem fixes itself when I restart the browser.
When I start up FFR after this I have to download everything again.

I have two questions few questions before I answer yours. (arent I a sadist? :P)

    do you have broadband?

do you use the latest version of Mozilla Firebird?

Now, on to the answer. This has nothing to do with your computer, mozilla, ffr, or even your ISP. It has to do with Internet Explorer.

You see, IE actually breaks the standards of the internet, it recognizes non-standard code and download files differently (this is why so many people campaign against IE)

IE waits for the whole file to download before it plays it. This may seem okay, but it isnt. Mozilla, as well as every other browser that adhears to standards, play files as they download them. The reason for this is pretty long-winded, so you dont need to know.

So this makes FFR start a stage before it's done downloading. If you have DSL, you wont really notice except that the songs are off by half a second. If you have dial-up, it wont work at all.

So, you MUST use IE. I'm sorry.

      No broadband, ISDN 128Kb.
Firebird is the latest. I got it just for FFR because I have removed IE.

I can play it, though just one song at a time. Looks like I don't even have to close FB, but just reload FFR and it manages to load and play another song.

I updated Opera to 7.21 but it's the same as before. Always loads the songs from the start and never starts playing.
