    FruityLoops n00b Question

    WARNING: n00b comments below!

So I just got FruityLoops and have been screwing around with it. My problem is that when I try to export to an mp3 or wav, I only get an hour or so of silence.

This is what I did: Since I'm a complete noob, I don't fiddle with any of the dials (yet!). All I did was drag a few drum loops and a synth into the step sequencer and then put a lot of those blocky things in the playlist. It sounds cool, so I went to "export to mp3" and hit the start button.

    I now have a 40mb mp3 of pure silence.
Where did I go wrong? What did/didn't I do? All the tutorials I have read are useless or are written in megaconfusing technical lingo. I think there's something I have to do with channels or something, but that stuff still confuses me. Please help me (in as simple lingo as posible, please!). Thanks a lot.

      Lies.

Since it seems like you only made one pattern and you want to export that, make sure that your in pattern mode before you export. If you want to play a few instances of that pattern, put it in song mode and in the playlist, "paint" a few instances of that pattern, and make sure that the repeat marker is placed at the end of where you want the song to be. The repeat marker is probably the problem in this case.

                Re: FruityLoops n00b Question

I don't have a pirated version, I have the demo, which (according to the FruityLoops website) CAN export wavs and mp3s.

I have multiple patterns (bass, kick drum, cool synth thingies) and I have a few blocks painted in the playlist. I right clicked on the measure I want it to end on and I get a grey arrow pointing backwards. I this the repeat marker doohicky you speak of? Becuase adding/removing and changing its position doesn't help.
And how would I check if my channels are muted or not? (remeber I'm a n00b, ok?)

P.S. Mr. Guru I know what the piano roll is and how to use it. I did not, however, use it in this case.

Try changing "leave remainder" to "cut remainder" in the exporting options.

That makes it produce over three hours of silence!
I'm in song mode. I have a 49 measure long song. It's 1:11 long and should produce a 1103kb mp3. If if use Cut Remainder and export, the program waits half an hour, then I have 3:00:00 or so, silent. If I use Leave Remainder, the program waits ten munites and then I have 1:00:00 of silence. If I use Wrap Remainder, the program waits half a second and I get a 0:00 long mp3 that no media player can open. (There isn't anything to listen to in a 0 second long song, anyway)

WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS!?

I got nothing. I would say check the mp3 to make sure it is the right size, and if it is then it might be something else.

                          >_<
                          I give up.
I'll just play it in fruityloops and record it with the computer mic or something.

                          -EDIT-
                          Better solution!

This little program worked just fine. The only problem is that the free version can only record at 96kb bitrate. But I'm fine with that, I'm just glad to have my song.

                          Thanks for the help.
