Well, for those who missed it (or even care), The Gorillaz (Damon Albarn) scheduled to do a five night tour of New York City from April 2-6 (in which the entire 5 nights were sold out within an hour). MSN Music happened to be there tonight for a live webcast concert of the playing of "Demon Days." I managed to catch it about halfway right when they were finishing up, "Every Planet We Reach Is Dead."
The concert itself was amazing. Damon Albarn sang with accompaning quartet and orchestra beside him. From what I've heard, De La Soul and Bootie Brown came out and did their own songs respectively. I think the highlight of the night was when Dennis Hopper came onstage to do "Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head." The Apollo Theater went wild then. After the playing of "Demon Days", Albarn went old school and did "Latino Simone" from the "Gorillaz" album, and another song I can't name. It had like a chinese zither in it and it was really awesome. Time to check again.
I don't know how MSN is handling the webcast but I hope to God they release it to watch again so I can catch the entire show. Amazing show and I'm glad I was able to see it.
