    Mi3 Wtf

While i was at the moives yesterday i saw a preview for the new mission impossible movie. In the final little scene of the preview a jet shoots a missle at a car on the bridge and he is running away from it, but yet he is blown sideways. even the blast came from behing WTF. can anyone actually explain how this could actually happen, or was it just a load of crap the producers made up.

It's not completely inconcievable that this is what would happen. Perhaps it's not from the missle explosion, but from the high-speed jet which comes pretty close to him.

      It's an action movie.

Physics would say that he would be blown exactly out from the crash, unless he kinda dove off towards the car that he hits... in which case, he still would be pushed in the direction stated above.

From my recollection of the scene, as I've seen that preview multiple times, the direction he is blown is inconsistent to Physics.

But, as was said... its an action movie. It doesn't need to actually make sense.

Part of the movie was filmed in a windmill farm not far from where I live. So I might just go see it for that fact.

I thought of the jet possibility but wouldn't he be blown in the direction the jet was going? Not the oposite way.

the jet was not close enough to effect his trejectory... plus, I believe the jet goes from the right of the screen to the left, which would blow him to the left, not the right.

Wrong. Look at the angle the missle hits at...meaning, the force of the explosion is going to push most of its force in the direction of the angle. Now watch where tom flies. The physics is just fine. Since he's so close the explosion he's blown in that direction and not the direction he's running in, nor would he be blown left. The force of an explosion > the force of tom cruise (sorry ladies). It doesn't matter which way he is running, the angle of the hit (well, and how far away he is) determines where he will be launched XD

Think of it this way. If you drop a domb straight down, where is the force pushing on you if you were near it? Up (and away). You're not going to be pushed down or anything else. Regardless of the force you exert, the bomb is going to exert more. You don't really get to choose the direction you fly in XD

PS can't wait to see this movie.
