Ok, I use Verizon DSL. I think I run slower than I should be. My friend has exact same internet. But his is like 300 KB faster downloadwise. My computers max is like 200 and he hits 500 easy. I am so mad. Why is it so slow? Is it verizons fault or just the setup on the downstairs computer? I am so confused.

I had no idea there were different kinds of internets out there.
Factors can be write speed, location from box, blockages, and just overall TCP/IP settings.
You can't download more than you can write onto your harddrive. He might be closer to the box than you, spyware / antivirus can affect speed, and he might have a better pipelining setting on his TCP/IP system file.
Go to DSLReports.com and run speed and tweak tests. That should help you out.

Duh. Maybe you need to find the right internet. There are lots of bad internets out there these days.
