So I watched about 6 episodes of firefly way back in 02. I thought it was cool but really didn't give it a second thought. However, a couple weeks ago I bought the DVDs and the movie (Serenity) I have to say I was completely blown away by this series. From the old west atmosphere of the "'verse" to the remarkable well thought out characters. This thing rocks. Buy it.

Re: Firefly/Serenity
Huge bump, but it's the only thread on this.
I finally watched it this week. The series + the movie. Amazing....
The series: Wow. A sci-fi show that's good?! Well, it's a mix. Part sci-fi, part western, total awesome. The series (14 episodes + a special feature episode) ends all too quickly. But......
The movie: The movie finishes where the series would ultimately end. It is the most satisfying ending to a tv series I've ever seen. This movie is good on it's own, as in you wouldn't be lost seeing it. It has great action, humor, and story. However you can't fully enjoy the movie without seeing the series first. And you can't fully enjoy the series unless you've watched the movie. The movie does an amazing job on answering questions and explaining things. Only a few minor details aren't explored, but that's because there was no time for it in this 2 hour movie.
Characters are wonderful. Humor is great. I'm going to watch the special features, as I saved that until after the movie (which I watched last night). -
Re: Firefly/Serenity
Agreed, completely.
As a huge Joss Whedon fan, I loved this series and the movie as well.
The characters at first seem very bland, but very quickly they grow on you, and relating to at least one of them becomes very simple. The chemistry the cast of this show had is something I don't know if many shows have nowadays. It's a huge shame that the show got cancelled (**** Fox...) but the way the series was aired was kinda wtf.
Airing episode 2 first was really dumb IMO. However, I guess it doesn't really matter, as the people who did give the series a chance did get to eventually see all the episodes. Anyway, if you liked anything scifi or western ish ever, or just liked something Joss has done before (I KNOW some of you liked Buffy or Angel or both), give this series a chance, it really is amazing.Comment

Re: Firefly/Serenity
I finally saw a few scattered episodes of this too. It took me a while of seeing Mal to get over the fact that I thought of Mal the FFR user every time he was on screen. :P It was actually kinda surreal at first since I got used to Mal's presence on the forums before I even knew his name and avatar were based on a character (so sue me D: ), so once I found out it was pretty weird to watch.
I liked the Jaynestown episode. XD
I need to sit down and watch the whole thing in order instead of letting my friends force random episodes on me.♪~

Re: Firefly/Serenity
Over my Spring break I watched all the episodes back to back and then Serenity. Pretty damn awesome. I fell asleep on the end of Serenity though.
I was too young to remember Firefly but the movie is what made me buy the series.Status: Innactive Onehander

Re: Firefly/Serenity
I saw the movie a long time ago but it was pretty good stuff. I should start watching the series. All I remember clearly was "Fruity Oaty Bars" lol."If you want to sex me you have to be good at math!" - Group X
