Stillness In The Dark: A Sonnet

A sonnet I wrote for Honors English 11. It will be published in the school's literary magazine this spring.

    Stillness in the Dark

There is a place where no one can see light,

And darkness permeates the depths of souls,

The path becomes too dark which to see right,

The lure of wrong is something to behold.

The mind is strong but sometimes becomes weak,

Tainted by falsehoods that keeps us from goals,

While many propose to let curses sleep,

We all must learn to be sharp as a rose.

Your choices in life, pathways they become,

To the ending of someone’s grand journey,

Make sure they are smart and not steeped in fun,

For we are all students, always learning.

Take heed friend of the stillness in the dark,

For unfulfilled dreams will kill many hearts.
