So a year ago, I was looking for a book to read, and my mom has like two bookshelves full of books. I asked her, and she recommended me to this book. I really enjoyed it. I know some people have mixed opinions on this series, be aware this is the first real fantasy book I have ever read basically.
It starts in a place called Sendaria, on a farm owned by a man named Faldor. Garion, the main character, lives there with some of his friends, along with some many other people, such as the smith, Durnik. Occasionally a storyteller comes by, who Garion's aunt, Aunt Pol, seems to know, and calls Old Wolf. One day, The storyteller, Aunt Pol, Garion, and Durnik leave on an unknown mission. They meet up with a small, sardonic man named Slik, and a huge man named Barak. As you go through this story, you learn about the many connections between these people, and the magic power some of them share, called the Will and the Word. These characters were very easy for me to relate too, and I understand how Garion feels through this adventure.
This is a two part series, starting with the Belgariad (which I described the start of above) and then The Mallorea. There is also a prequel, named Belgarath the Sorcerer, BUT DON'T READ IT FIRST, IT HAS MANY SPOILERS.
I find these books incredibly enjoyable, and read them very obsessivley, a few hours every night. I am completely absorbed, and I find this to be a great seriest, and strongly recommend it.
