Warcraft III Frozen Throne/ Reign of Chaos

Well, I was just wondering if anybody on these forums still plays. I love this game. It never gets old except for when someone rushes you every game or when the master hacks or something. Anyways, I got this game a while ago. Then I lost my original disc. And I just got a new one.

My name on there is BaconElite.

RE: Warcraft III Frozen Throne/ Reign of Chaos

I've been addicted to custom games lately, primarily one called Footman Frenzy. Obviously these people who play Footman Frenzy probably never played a melee game in their life because most of them have some crappy micro (they never dispel ANYTHING and they keep their heroes sleeped while saying Sleep, such a counterable spell and only truely deadly to channeling spells, is imbalanced o_0) and complain about people who don't random. Psh, I still kick their asses.

But Warcraft 3 is awsome. Raiders with ensnare FTW

I've never been a huge fan of the Craft series. I was always more of a C&C guy, really. I have WC3 but rarely play it, especially online. When I do play it's usually custom games (EoD got me to play some of them here and there...). EoD was always telling me to get TFT because so much more was possible in custom games, but I'm not willing to spend more money on a game I know I will hardly ever play.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

All I play is custom games. Footmen Frenzy, WMW, Tower Defences, and An occasional game of DOTA. The B.net Standard games are full of people who kick my ass left and right. They get a gay hero and rush your base. WCIII is cool though.

That right there is why I don't play RTS games that much any more. It's also probably why I like C&C a lot more than any other RTS game. It's so much simpler and requires way less micro. I laugh when I see Pure Pwnage cuz he plays Generals and talks about his awesome micro, but if he was really that good with micro he'd be playing any -craft game, or RoN or something. Seriously, C&C games make it so easy to rush and build lots of stuff.

Also, I might be more inclined to play WC3 online if I already played the maps before. As it is, just about any game I enter I have to download the map first. In all the tower defense maps I sit and pick a race for like 10 minutes while everybody else is like OMG WTF BUILD STUFF WHAT ARE YOU DOING and I'm mulling over the decision. If I could play the map on my own first I would be a lot more comfortable playing online.

What I'm trying to say here is...where can I download a bunch of popular WC3 maps? Not Frozen Throne maps, just regular WC3 maps. Things that everybody plays that I could learn on my own and then go play people online in.

RE: Warcraft III Frozen Throne/ Reign of Chaos

RTS games are very hard, I admit. At first, and for aobut 3 or so months, it took me so long to get good. Now I love to play FFA games like crazy.

FFA games are awsome because even a mediocre player can make a huge difference in the outcome of the game (mediocre, not noob. Noobs just feed exp to whoever is lucky to be closest to him). I prefer going orc and getting a Farseer, then Blademaster, and then usually either Alchemist or Shadow Hunter, usually Alchemist only for Transmute because microing an Alchemist to chase a runaway hero can be a bitch if your enemy is stubborn and you're still fighting (one of the Alchemists most useful traits is taking down runaway heroes), and Shadow Hunter does a better job at healing.

Personally, I believe Wc3 is so micro intensive, it isn't funny. Even after a year of playing on and off on FFA games, I'm only kinda good. I wish I had Starcraft because it's so much easier >_>

And EB, TFT custom games are a lot better than RoC =O Just the two most popular: DotA: "Pornstars" (actually it's Allstars, it's just a joke) and Footman Frenzy are enough to keep you entertained at least 15 plays of each.

I don't even find Starcraft easy. I've had it for over a year (although for the last few months i've just given up trying) and i still haven't cleared normal campaign mode. I got to like the 4th last level and quit because i kept trying to build stuff and the enemies went SWARMSWARMSWARMLOL.

Multiplayer mode was useless because everybody i played was either ubergood compared to me or complete idiots who don't even know what buildings do what. Every time i had a team battle i was seriously the sole reason that my team lost because the other 3-5 players were so goddamn fast. Don't even get me started on that map where everybody has practically infinite resources.

Warcraft 3 has a piss easy campaign, but human players are the hardest things ever to kill.

Starcraft focuses more on speed and rushing, and in my opinion, that's a lot easier than the micro intensity that makes up Warcraft. Sure, Starcraft does take micro and Warcraft takes speed, but not as much for each opposite department. I didn't really mean easy, just easier. Plus there are no heroes, and I suck with heroes >_>

I've played both, and i agree that WC is definitely harder. I'm just really bad at both.

SC is definitely more of a rush game than WC. Any C&C game is more rushing than either, though. The only real micro involved is knowing how to lead your units around so you can surround the enemy, or maybe having anti-air stuff in a separate control group so you can have them shoot down planes while your tanks handle ground stuff. There are heros now, but most of their coolness is that they are cloaked and you can sneak them in behind stuff and blow crap up. And in Generals, you don't even have to expand super fast like in other games because you can make your own money at your base. But WC....oh man I suck. I can't handle all that micro.

But I'm pretty decent at rushing. That's mainly just being fast and using keyboard commands and such to speed up. On money maps I can quickly get enough base defense to hold off early attacks, and then I will eventually get tons and tons of mutalisks. People never believe me when I say it, and they always tell me to upgrade to guardians, but a huge swarm of mutalisks is hilariously powerful.

Anywho, people still haven't answered me. Where can I find DotA (what's that stand for??) maps and Footman Frenzy? I think I have at least one DotA from where Torrie dragged me on to play. I dunno, though....I would like more. >__>
