Afro, there's a new version of Gaim out now that direct-connects properly. =D Someone I know just got it and it seems to be working fine.
I'd use Gaim too, but it annoyed me with the way it messed up font sizes... and a few other things.
As for Google Talk integrating with AIM... awesome. It'll probably do autologging too. Google Desktop can already do that for you with AIM conversations, and it's rather handy.

RE: Re: RE: I told you that with time, GTalk would rock
Hopefully they make it capable of direct connects. That's the only reason I still use AIM instead of Gaim. Gaim never DCs correctly.
Same goes for me. I really don't like AOL or anything they make, but the lack of compatibility between AIM and other things keeps me on AIM. Funny thing is that AIM users can't even DC with AOL users. They can't even make their own programs work together right.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(
In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.
