Another story from Chromesoo. This one has some familiar people in it but don't look too much into it. However, I do mention a certain event that happens to one of the characters in the story that we all remember well. Enjoy!
The Way We Feel - Part I
"I'm sorry but things just aren't working out."
Noah stared across the small booth table into his girlfriend's eyes. He didn't want to believe what he just heard, but it was pretty feasible. The relationship had been on a steady decline since last December and now coming into July, things weren't going any better.
"Well, if that's the way you feel then I'll have to accept that," said Noah.
Noah then quickly stood up from the booth, turned towards the door, and promptly walked out before Eva could see the tears running down his face.
Weeks passed by and Noah was still in a giant slump. Days ran together, food tasted bland, life had no meaning. He would find himself staring out the window at birds in the trees and wishing he could just fly away with them. Noad sighed heavily and laid on his bed, staring at the ceiling. Just then, the phone rang. Noah let it ring for a moment before picking it up.
"Hello?" asked Noah not really in the mood to talk.
"Hi Noah," said Eva from the other end.
Noah immediately sat up and gripped the receiver to his ear tightly. He cleared his voice to keep it from being shaky.
"Uhh, hi Eva. How are things?" asked Noah.
Eva sighed as if she was about to tell Noah something.
"Noah stop mourning over me. I know you've been moping around about it and I'm tired of seeing you like that. If you really cared about me, you would stop acting like such a wimp and go look for another girl," said Eva.
Noah's feeling changed from excitement to bitter anger.
"Look for someone else!? How can I when you steal my heart and trample it like some plaything!? I have feelings like any other guy out there! So what if I forget to call you every night or ask how your day is going and other crao like that!? At least give the respect to tell me why things are the way they are now between us!?" yelled Noah.
Eva said nothing for five seconds.
"The way we feel about one another determines our relationship with that person in the future. If you truly feel that person's heart and being and soul, you can truly say that you are apart of that person's whole. I feel you heart and soul and being Noah. It is you who cannot see the entire truth behind it. So you turn your back on the determining factors and let them fall as they may. Until you prove to me that you are whole with me, this relationship cannot last. I was recently accepted into the University of Miami. I will be leaving around the first of September. If you cannot prove that you feel for me the way I do for you, then it's goodbye forever," said Eva.
The phone immediately clicked as Eva hung up. Noah put the phone down and stared at the ceiling again. To be whole and to feel one's soul, being, and heart. That was what Eva had wanted. Noah wasn't dense to girls but this absolutely puzzed him? Did it mean she loved him? Does she want Noah to kill himself for her? Or maybe she wants him to cut out her heart?
"Eww," said Noah out loud as he thought of the last one.
Noah continued to ponder the question until he finally fell asleep.
"Dude, its obvious she wants you to bone her."
Noah clicked his tongue in disgust at his friend's remark. Corey was in the Air Force but considering his militaristic background, he still acted like a total goofball.
"That is definitely not what she wnats you to do. She wants you to take her out to a fancy restaurant, look gazingly into her eyes and ask, "So do you want to go back to my place and bone?" said his friend Mal.
Mal was one of the those laid back intellectual guys. He was one of the only people that Noah could actually look up to and have an intellectual conversation with. Actually, Corey was just as smart as Mal was, but after a certain romp through a Suburban area that involved pictures and a pumpkin, Noah had to reconsider this.
"No dude, that's not it either. She doesn't want me to bone her at all. It's just that, the way she said it, it felt as if for a moment nothing else mattered and all I could think about was her," said Noah.
Corey put his hand on Noah's shoulder.
"Dude that's just your penis talking. You know what you need? Some good old fashion Nihonjin porn. I got some at my house. Wanna stop by and get a vid?"
Noah stood up and shook Corey's hand off.
"Dude what part of I'm not kidding don't you get!? I can't stop thinking about her! How is jacking off to a frickin porno gonna solve my problems!?"
Corey was silent.
"I'm leaving. If you guys want to contact me at least have something worthwhile to say to me," said Noah as he picked his bookbag off the steps of City Hall threw his eaten sub in the trash.
Corey called out to him.
"But Noah, its Japanese chicks doing crazzy stuff man! Even America would flip from seeing this!"
Noah turned around and looked at Corey. He loved Corey like a brother but Corey had not been helpful at all. Noah flipped him off.
"Leave me alone," said Noah as he put his hands in his jean pockets and began to walk down 4th Street alone.
Corey, wide mouthed turned to look at Mal. Mal sighed and got up.
"Corey make sure your tongue doesn't fall out of it's head. I'm going to go calm down our human volcano."
Mal began to walk at a brisk pace as he followed Noah down the street. Corey got up and dusted off his pants.
"Sheesh. It was just a joke."
