    Mission: Impossible: 3

My opinion: I am inclined to say that this will suck because that villian's dialogue was REALLY bad. I decided to do some IDMb research found this out:

No writers or directors from the first MI, which was the best and really rocked.
On the other hand, there's no writers or directors from MI2, which really wasn't good.

The director: J.J. Abrams. Apparantly he did Armageddon, and did the pilot episode of Lost. And he also did some episodes of Alias. So he's not bad, that much I know.
Fellow Writers: Alex Kurtzman, who did screenplay for The Legend of Zorro and The Island. Ooooh, and he was a writer for Jack of all Trades and Hercules! Tagging along with him is Roberto Orci, who also did all those, as well as some Xena episodes. There might be some promise in these lads.

Conclusion: If the dialogue is constantly as bad as that was, and it's all action with no tactical infiltration (MI2 had infiltration, but it was FAR from tactical), then count me out. But, hey, it's only a teaser. I'm not passing final judgement yet.

    RE: Mission: Impossible: 3

    I'm actually shocked.

I thought the dialouge was fine... I thought Phillip Seymour Hoffman's delivery was bad.

    Oh man... What a world.

Still holding out for the actual movie, though. I'm not going to swear it off because of the teaser. Plus, it is being directed by the creator of LOST and Alias.

      RE: Mission: Impossible: 3

Cruise was in Japan filming the movie a while back, and during a press conference he took a reporter's cell phone(he had been talking on it at the time) and proceeded to talk to the reporter's wife.

See, when Tom Cruise isn't off being crazy, he seems like a pretty cool guy.

Case in point, a girl in Va got hurt pretty bad in a Go-kart accident. Cruise stopped in at a Dairy Queen where they were collecting money for the girl and dropped 5 G's in, and his entarouge all followed suit. Not all of them dropped a full 5 G's, though.

Point still stands; when he's not being crazy, he seems pretty cool. Unless he was being a dick to the reporters wife.

I actually thought the whole thing was more funny than Tom just being weird.

Uhm...he's the director of ALL of the episodes of Lost and Alias. He's mostly responsible for the OMGWTFPOLARBEAR and the jumping of the shark that Alias has been doing lately. So I'd expect a good movie out of him...he seems to do okay early on in a series, and a movie doesn't last long enough for him to destroy himself.

Actually, he left ALIAS pre-shark jumping. I don't watch it, though... So I may be wrong.

Babe... do the research. Alias shark jumped around early season 4, IMO... maybe the ending to season 3.

MI2 was AWFUL. MI1 is AMAZING.... the scene where they steal the NOC list from Langley is one of my top5 movie scenes of all time, along with the Blood Rave from Blade and some others that I don't feel like thinking about to list atm.

My thoughts exactly. MI's scenes of espionage all rocked really hard, not because of explosions and kung-fu and action, but because they were Smart. Tactical. Clever. Oh, and absolutely suspenseful. MI2 was a load of malarkey with gunfights and dumbed-down infiltration.
