Our Computer Horror Story (Now with special ending!)

So, i'm burning a cd right, and our computer dies with an error message. We call the computer guys and they check it out, turns out we got a virus. Origianally we thought we'd need a new computer, because the guy from best buy (i called to see if it was somthing stupid) told us that we needed a new motherboard. We take it to digital deals, they backup our files onto a disc, get us a new antivirus (Panda?) and clear out the computer. Next day, we come and pick it up. It's about 20 minutes away from where we live, and my mom comes home. I plug in the computer, and guess what! The guy forgot to give us the backup disc! So my mom drives back out there, and comes home with two discs (one with backup, and one with panda antivirus/firewall) I install the panda one and register it, and after much hassle upgrading windows and installing panda, i put in the backup disc. TURNS OUT THEY GAVE US THE WRONG DISC. It's closed, and we're screwed. I'm sitting here on a computer with nothing on it but internet explorer and panda antivirus.

Thanks for giving us the wrong disc ComputerSpa. You've been great.

I called, the guy said he'd call us back tomorrow.
Let's hope we get our files back.

Computer Spa? That's a weird name for a computer repair store.

The original name was "Digital Deals" but they decided to change it. Why cant my computer have SOMETHING on it.

I may as well be using dos.

The conclusion to my wonderful story:

We lost everything. No more music, currently i have this on my computer
          Trillian
          Firefox
          Panda antivirus/firewall
winamp (although we have no music)
          1/10 of a downloaded maplestory
and a picture of jessica alba.

You mean you don't back up your own files?

            Ha! You're funny.

Jake, i'll send whatever I have if you want it :/

That sucks though. I don't back up any of my stuff though since I have nothing to put it on, so if something like this happends to me, well lets just say bye-bye to 55 Gigs of music.

Both Stepmania and my CD Collection.

The only things I'd really care about are my simfiles and Movies.

Everything else can pretty much be replaced.

The guy that fixed our computer, screwed up. He got fired and the owner took care of it, installing programs that cost money for free. I also was able to retrieve the music from my ipod using a program called xplay, which i may one day pay for.

I'm glad everything came out okay 8)

You had a virus and he said it was a problem with your MOTHERBOARD?

Un-friggin-believable. I'm scared that they hire these people. Are they just asking to be sued?

I am yet to have a virus where the computer was unfixable, but the data was retrievable. Of course, I am yet to have an unfixable virus. I have come close to being unable to fix someone elses comp, but I was able to get their problem fixed also. It has been a few months, so I bet that computer is fairly trashed again even though I gave them all the basic tools they needed.
