Not doubt it will be awesome, but...
Wouldn't a graphic novel form be a lot better? I mean, these is COMICS we're talking about. The things that are, like, 10 pages long and then you wait a week for the next issue. I don't think could read The Dark Tower in such tiny segements at a time. A graphic novel really would be better.

Yeah, graphic novel would be better, but w/e. I've never read an american comic book, though I have seen some art from it which I actually prefer over manga because it's just so realistic.

I've never read that book, but I'm in need of a good read.

That's all I got to say about this...

OMFG YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THE DARK TOWER IS BECOMING A GRAPHIC NOVEL. Honestly IMO The entire Dark Tower series, is Stephen King's best work. I agree though. Seeing Roland, Eddie, Jake, and Sussanah in a graphic novel would make it alot more appealing than say reading the 800+ pages of his books. To let you guys know how much of a fan I am of the Dark Tower, guess which book in the series this quote came from:

"The Man in Black fled across the desert, and The Gunslinger followed."

Do you even have to waste time thinking about it? It's pretty much the opening line of The Gunslinger (IIRC). This is awesome for me, simply because I'm working my way through The Dark Tower right now. Currently I'm just finishing Song of Susannah, so I don't have much more to read. But yeah, still being fresh in my mind, I know just how awesome this series is.

Origin, so they probably won't be retelling the story, they'll just be adding to it. That's even better- the books show an insanely huge world, but only reveal a few scattered parts of it. The comic book series will probably be dealing with a series of short stories (my guess, anyway). Anyone ever read "The Little Sisters of Eluria"? It's a short story starring Roland before he starts on his quest. I'm wondering if that's going to be in the series.

I'm really looking forward to this. This does look AWESOME.

There's really no excuse for not picking it up. You could just buy the graphic novel collecting the first 6 issues when it comes out:

Stephen is working with Marvel to produce a series of comic books inspired by and adapted from his Dark Tower novels. The first six issues will appear monthly starting in April 2006 and then will be collected in a hardcover volume published by Marvel in time for the 2006 holidays. The comics will integrate scenes from the novels with new material, creating a linear history of Roland Deschain as a young man.

That doesn't make any sense though. If you read Volume IV: The Wizard and The Glass, the entire book is basically about the biggest thing to happen to him in his childhood before he became an adult gunslinger. Does his childhood really need to be reanalyzed? We basically know he beat Cort, his mentor and instead of being banished west, he was sent to the east, during the war btween Farson and all. There's not really much more to be said.

Actually, I think there is plenty of storytelling to be done before that. Gunslinger training, how he met Alain and Cuthbert (Unless that's covered and I don't remember it.) I'm sure they'll do an excellent job. I have never bought a comic before, but I will definately buy this.
