Space at end of song.. cant get rid of it

Ok i've made 5 songs so far.
They used to work ok, but now after a reinstall of windows, they dont start or end where they do when in edit mode.
eg. one song has only 58 bars of steps, yet it carries on past that for a few minutes to the end of the song.
I've checked the sm file and it only goes up to 58.

I've tried reinstalling stepmania but it hasn't fixed the problem.
It does it on all my songs where they all worked b4.

I just dont understand as when I do edit/synch and play the song, it does it all perfectly.

Am I missing a setting inj the program itself?

RE: Space at end of song.. cant get rid of it

Stepmania ends the song when the mp3 ends if the mp3 ends after the stepfile.

If you don't want the last part, edit the mp3. I suggest using Audacity (google it).
    hehe

Yea the point was that it used to end where i ended the steps.

Thanks a lot for that prog link though, needed an mp3 editor as the one i had wasnt free and ran out
I'll use that for now I guess.

If there is a DWI file in your folder as well, delete both of the .old files, and open the DWI in notepad. At the very end of the file, if you see a bunch of excess 0s, delete all of them. If you don't see any excess 0s, then I'm not sure what the problem is.
