    Metal DDR pad (lowest price)

    Looking to purchases a metal pad, does anyone have any good links, sites or contacts. Looking to spend max 175 w/shipping>

      Metal Pads short of the RO Afterburner are not worth any of the money you invest in them. eBay is also the worst place to go and I hope djshox gets cancer for making such a blindly ignorant recommendation.

              Ineed ebay is not the place to buy your DDR pads. However, all metal ddr pads are not worth the cost. Play at the arcade instead. 175 dollars could last you a year at an arcade if you just played DDR, and the metal pads will break fairly before that.

                          Shox is absolutely right. I've had a neogames metal pad I bought from eBay two years ago, and it still works just fine.

                          Problems I've had:
                          The LED lights are picky and don't work on certain PS2s.
                          The plastic on non-arrow panels peel after some wear.
                          The contol box with the start and select buttons has fragile parts; yet, that's true of any unit with solder points.
                          The metal dividers can bend if you step on them the wrong way. But, they don't affect the arrows.
                          The plexi is slightly cracked. That will happen with any pad.

                          Note that they've upgraded their models since then, so many of those minor issues may be fixed. For example, my cousin got a newer one, and the metal was tinted blue instead of having white plastic sheets. They come between $100-$150. I highly recommend it if you can get past some of the tiny nuisances and you're on a budget.

                                  I also just recently bought a DDR Metal pad from ebay, it's working fine and I got a great deal on it.

                                  Nothing's wrong with ebay, you just have to make sure the person you're buying from is reliable.

                                      I want a metal pad too, but my parents are so...iffy about ebay. so I'm gonna have to get a relatively expensive one, but since they won't let me spend my bank money (saved up birthdays and christmases...christmas's...whatever) I probably won't get one. my non-metal one SUCKS. It reads the arrows totally messed up (I hit down it reads left and right simultaneously) mostly because the material is way too easy to move around so the slightest of scrunchying will make it misread. I want a metal pad badly. How can you make sure the person you're buying from is reliable? I NEED TO KNOW!

                                          haven't you guys ever considered making one? I mean lots of people have and all of them said that it works great. And the most money i have heard of for making one is $135. And if for some reason its not working right, i mean you BUILT it, you know what the problem is so its easy to fix.

                                          Just a thought

                                              I completely agree with zandig...I just built a metal pad of my own from that exact link and it works great and feels a lot like the arcade. These can be built to be a lot tougher than a lot of the manufactured pads out there and if they do break down for some reason, they're really easy to fix. Or, if you're really lazy or just have a lot of money, I would go with the Cobalt flux, they'll last you for as long as you'll play. Even though they are the most expensive, all the other pads I've heard of have had numerous complaints (even the Afterburner) and it's better to spend money on something that will work well and last a long time than something that will break down and need costly fixing/replacing once the 3 month warranty expires
