RE: A Scanner Darkly
Yeah...I've heard about this movie. It is based on one of Philip K. Dick's novels: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Scanner_Darkly.
I especially dig the production of the movie...using retorscoping...hardcore.Comment

Philip K. Dick is an awesome writer. Perhaps this will be the next "Blade Runner."Comment

RE: Re: RE: A Scanner Darkly
very cool. Someone want to quickly explain how they achieve that art style? Or what 'rotoscoping' is? do they record the actors and then just draw over them? B/c that's really what it looks like.I'll trade you this delicious doorstop for your crummy old danish.
Done, and done.Comment

Re: RE: Re: RE: A Scanner Darkly
Yeah, that's the basics. A Scanner Darkly was recorded with Digital cameras and then artists went over each frame tracing and coloring in the scene. Rather time consuming. Other movies that have used this technic are Waking Life, Star Wars (lightsabers and blasters), the classic Disney films, and the cartoon version of Lord of the Rings.Originally posted by suicidalmuskratdo they record the actors and then just draw over them?Comment

I didn't like the preview that much. It just seemed a bit silly and melodramatic for me.

"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor

I'm a fan of Philip K. Dick, so meh, I dig it. Perhaps I was too distracted by the retroscoping that I didnt really pay attention to..everything else.Comment
