I know its been quite a while since this has been out, but i just bought it last night and watched it this morning, and think its a wonderful movie. Especially the colors, and camera shots and story line.
Well before the movie was released in North America i had seen the movie. And to be honest I wasn't to impressed. Maybe i was just expecting to much from the movie but I just didn't like it. But that's just my opinion.

good movie. i saw it when it came out here in the states and i got it on dvd for christmas. i think my favorite scene is when jet li fights that guy in the rain with the old blind man playing music. i like the way it was filmed with the drops of water and stuff.
some people play tennis, i erode the human soul

I had to see the movie three times (twice in Chinese, once with subtitles) in order to "get" all the symbolism. Notice the color of their clothing in the three sections that correspond to guile, perception and reality.
finally, a topic on real movies.
now that you mention it...yeah, i'll have to watch it again to see what colors go with what.
1ll-egal,
what didn't you like about the movie?
it did tend to drag at the end, but i think it was worth it, it makes you think of different possibilities / outcomes. the fight scenes were pretty welly done too..not as corny looking as some of Quentin's(sp?) other movies...like iron monkey, although i like that one too, the fighting could have been better...
scratch-rabbit-Quentin had nothing to do with the making of the movie. The people who were releasing it in the US wanted to delete some scenes that were "too Chinese," but Tarantino cut them a deal; leave the movie alone and get the rights to add "Quentin Tarantino presents" to the title.

i guess I'm not into those kind of martial arts movies. I liked Crouching Tiger better...but i prefer the style to be like ong-bak or the line of Bruce Lee movies.

From this point on I am going to persue a career in the Film industry so I can work my way to the top so I can kick the idiots who feel the need to edit foreign films right in the face until they either come to their senses or bleed to death, which ever comes first.
Well, some things just aren't worth showing an American audience. Take, for example, DragonBallZ. FUNimation didn't even try to make the joke about Gohan's name.
Now, I don't recall anything in Hero that wouldn't have been like that, but still, sometimes it's understandable.
