    iTunes is fucking bullshit

Okay.. so I'm organizing my computer. I'm about to go make backups (you'll find this ironic as all hell). I go into iTunes. I'm going to update my library. I delete the files from the list. It says there are some extra in the iTunes Music folder and would I like to send them to the Recycle Bin. I click OK, figuring it sounded like iTunes made some copies over into the iTunes Music folder, and that even if I was wrong I could just take them out of the Recycle Bin...

...it moved my entire library, save for the new files in my mp3 folder, to the Recycle Bin. Fine.. Whatever. I move them out and back into the mp3 folder, then I add the folder to my iTunes library. I look at the number at the bottom. 869....

...that number was supposed to be in the 1100s. WHAT THE FLYING FUCK!!!! It deleted all of my A-C mp3s permanently. Goddammit. So now I figure I'll just get them off of my iPod. Simple enough, right?...

..the autoupdate on iTunes was turned on still... The only way you can turn it off is by having the iPod plugged in. WOW NICE THINKING THERE. I plug in my iPod. It starts DELETING ALL MY SONGS OFF OF IT BECAUSE MY LIBRARY WAS EMPTY. Thus, all the A-C mp3s I have are permanently fucking gone because iTunes is the lamest piece of shit program ever.

    RE: iTunes is #$#ing bullshit

Even though iPods store alot, you have to pay for the music. Now who wants to do that? I have a question though: are iTunes just MP3's? Cause if they aren't then Macintosh is ripping you guys off SO bad. I dislike Apple. And Microsoft.

Ok, you see, I have no iPod and don't know what I'm talking about, so let me put it this way: Is Apple ripping you off by making you pay for MP3s -OR- Are iPod songs a different type of file?

An iPod is an Mp3 player...thus it plays mp3s, you should pay for them, but Apple isnt stopping you from uploading illegally obtained songs onto your iPod.

Banditcom, yeah, that sucks, but it isnt iTunes' fault. It's your own for not knowing how to use the software.

I assume all the AAC files were ripped from CDs. Thus they are stored in the iTunes folder under my music. When you remove the files you ripped from a CD from your library, iTunes prompts you "would you like to send these files to the garbage bin" in your case you selected yes. Not iTunes fault, your fault.

Also, iPod does not let you remove mp3s from it via iTunes anyways (due to file sharing). You have to download and install a seperate program, though I dont remember the name.

I hate iTunes too, but I would never do something like this...

See, Windows Media Player will ask you when you delete a song from your library "Do you want to remove this song from the library only or from your computer as well?"

            It's cool like that.

Actually it's very easy to get MP3s from your iPod. Just enable it as a harddrive, make sure hidden folders are enabled, go in, go to the hidden folder (iPod Controls or something), Songs, and your songs are randomly scattered throughout the 48 folders (bullshit, yes. it's a feature so that you can have multiple songs with the same filename, title, and artist [WHY IS THIS NEEDED?])

Well see, it wasn't a total loss. I thought my last backup on my other harddrive was really old but it wasn't. I probably in fact only lost 25-50 songs.

Yes, I know it's my fault. But iTunes is still retarded.

Its definately your fault Bandit. Good reading there on the "would you like to move them to the g-bin"

On that line, would you like me to move this topic to the g-bin?

can i-tunes burn m4a's?? I changed the registry on WMP to allow it to PLAY m4a's, but it won't burn them...so i was wondering if i-tunes can, or maybe my CD burner is just AFU
