    RE: Favorite Plugin?

    Cher uses autotune alot too.

Sw Performer would have to be my favorite plugin, its one of the most comprehensive soft synths i've seen, and resembles closely most modern hardware synthesizers, so there arent any propietary digital tidbits to learn.

      RE: Favorite Plugin?

I haven't tried too many vst's, but plasticZ is an ok synth for freeware.

The best overall plugin synth I know of is sytrus. Sytrus is a hybrid synth, combining both additive and subtractive synthesis to make some great sounds. It has 6 osc's, 3 filters, a few basic effects, and tons of envelopes and lfo's available for most of the features. It kills the cpu, which is the main pitfall in my eyes.

EDIT: I just looked up auto-tone4- $359??? You bought that???

I think the best freeware synth is superwave p8, very high quality rivaling many commercial vsts.
        Check it out definitely.

Its a nice synth for the money. Except a battery exploded in mine and now it cant run on battery power... time to check out its warranty policy.

Its better than most hardware vocoder modules, and cheaper, the vocoder alone would be worth the money. Only thing is that I would get a better mic if you are serious about laying down some vocals.

Yea as long as you have a good mic- those cheap pc mics are terrible.

Unless you have the money for a neuman or akg condensor mic
I would go with a behringer, I have the b-1 and it is phenomenal considering the price. B-2 came out a while ago too, just remember to get a phantom power supply and most likely a preamp also.

                      oh yeah
                      condensor mic = recording
                      dynamic mic = live performance
