DESPERATE need for some music recommendations

    Yo yo whattup chatroom
I've been getting bored of my island of curated songs I listen to and want some music recommendations. More specifically, I'm looking for stuff that's thematically interesting or rhythmically niche. The issue for me probably comes from the 21st century rapid dopamine entropy where things are so aggressively accelerated everywhere all the time; but I have been losing interest in music where the idea feels played out or predictable. The time in-between where I discover a new song that raises my eyebrows has become increasingly distant and I'm in search of some new sounds

I want something that's tastefully weird, something that may hardly even qualify as music; or something that has that spark of intrigue. Pretty much just anything with a degree of novelty. Please share some music with me!

are you interested in watching things and having a visual experience to go along with the music?? I love Perfume's music on it's own, Yasutaka Nakata (the producer) is a fucking genius but Perfume live shows blend the music with choreography, lighting and stage effects and it gives a different impact than just listening to the music on it's own

They have a lot of cool live shows like this

A tad late to the party, I like Takako Ishida's "In Black and White" and "Mark I: Awakening". I also like 6amsunset new album, Graphical User Interface, well specifically Stranger Call because I am IDM biased.

I'd be shocked if you hadn't at least heard of him, but phonon (https://soundcloud.com/phonon_music) is my go-to recommendation for stuff that is "rhythmically niche" or just out there in general.

New Years' Snow by satanicpornocultshop sounds like exactly what you're looking for.

I have some other honourable mentions, realistically I'd tell you to listen to all of them, because they all have their own quality you might've never heard before... but also you might not have the time.
Please let me know if you enjoyed any ones in particular I love talking about weird music and what makes it fun!!!

                  - super weird in a very fun and exciting way, loved the performance art aspect on top of the music itself; wonderful recommendation thank you!

Yesss! I enjoy when multiple artforms get to come together in a fun bundle such as this, I'll have to check more of their work out! Visuals + choreography are a great way to elevate the music.

                  - this one had me turning my head it was so interesting, the acidic purple sounds are super clean and airy which is wild to me since I'm not used to that and typically associate that color of sound with harsher or grittier edges. Love it!

YESSS I absolutely love Alon Mor and his works, generationally skilled artist with really powerful pieces of music.

                  Differentiate by the Hideaway Collective
                  - WOW this is so trippy and melodically fascinating, sorta reminds me of sungazer. Banger recommendation, love this track legit 10/10 I was vibing so hard; fantastic recommendation

Narwhal by A Shell in the Pit
                  - Love the guitar + the fakebit sounding lead over the retro disco drums, very fun and interesting sound choices that were wonderful to listen to

It's not the Same by Yppah
                  - YO first it was the granular/stuttery sorta guitars but then the grooviest drums came in with this sick vocal sample in the back, love the pads and atmosphere through the entire song. Another absolute banger

                  Use Knife
                  - i LOVE the percussion and atmosphere + vocal samples in both song recommendations, super fun to jam to. Also really liked the visuals they made for "ptolemaic". Just what im looking for

                  Changing States by Matmos
                  - absolutely delicious tonality, song sorta reminds of the deku tree in OOT. The microtonal stuff is incredibly well executed and sounds absolutely delightful, love this song a lot

                  Bipolar Disorder by Ame Gedeon
                  - WOW i love the crunchy sound design and the swing this song has, as well as the shifting intensity through the track (aptly named song). I wonder how they got the sweeping sounds to be so harmonically rich? Scratches a very particular itch in my brain, absolute banger song 10/10

                  Selee by Superflu
                  - the tuned granular sounding percussion and vocal lead one shots??? hello?? really effective use of space all through out this track, incredible banger

                  Icicle by Amp/Ampderg/Ampyri
                  - Really beautiful piece of music through and through, loved the entire composition and will certainly be coming back to listen again

                  Kaas by Joost Spijkers
                  - Very whimsical and exciting! It might not be something I'd put on the main playlist, but certainly a treat to listen to every now and then!

                  -------------------------------

Thank you everyone for suggesting such wonderful music! I got exactly what I was looking for and appreciate y'all taking the time to send music my way
