I was in California for the past week and completely bored. My family was taking yet another crappy vacation to all these national parks that I really don't care at all about. So we end up at Lake Tahoe one day and as you may or may not know it is borderline California and Nevada. Nevada allows gambling. Casinos have arcades. I have stuff to do.
After idling around for an hour or two watching people play the DDR 7th mix/DDRMAX2 machine I noticed another bemani game beside it called "DanceManiax 2nd mix". I watched a few people play and figured I could do it too.
***Actual interesting part begins here***
The game involves a completely innovating way to play using the same basic concept of timing out hits according to the beat of a song. You don't actually have to hit anything. The machine consists of 4 motion detectors that instantly detect whether or not you've passed your hand over one.
Of the 4 motion detectors you only concern yourself with 2. The trick is right here. There are 2 detectors but 4 different things to hit. How is this accomplished? Red is top, blue is bottom.
I didn't get a chance to play much so I never really got good. It has songs in sets of four and I always won all four songs. Majority of those four songs were old DDR songs I loved which was perfect.
I got owned later that night by two kids who played Afronova and some other songs at like 8x on the hardest difficulty. I couldn't even find the menu for that

(Only screenshot I could find that explained my point. Sorry.)

Fun game. Needs more recognition.
