    Couple Questions ~ New

Had a couple questions that I was hoping could get answered >.>
~I couldn't find the forum rules (I read the community ones but wasn't sure if that was it) so I was hoping to get a link to those
~I was wondering if there was a way to search by artist when looking for songs.
~Was also wondering if there was a way to make the screen longer by height (if not its fine)
~Was wondering if the difference in engines are only visual
~And finally was wondering if there was compiled lists peoples favorite files or something along those lines, (might be song of the week but not sure if thats it)
Hope this doesn't break any rules ~ Thanks in advance

    1) These are the site-wide rules if this is what you didn't see: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/....php?f=39&a=65

    2) That is not a feature, I apologize

    3) There is a way in R^3 to give you more viewing space by using "Editor" to move the receptors away from the window, I'll try to find a picture for you to better explain this

    4) With each engine there are more options and more fluent results, but they may vary as everyone has different results. Test them all to see if you have a more optimal engine to work with.

    5) In the older engines you can favorite songs so that they stay in a category that you can easily get to, but not currently a feature in R^3.

EDIT: I see YoshL and Hakulyte both viewing, they'll answer what I didn't cover. YoshL has a good guide to getting a good offset for playing if you have trouble for that, and Hakulyte knows an incredible amount about the game.

Call me dyslexic but I totally read his name as Irelia and was liek "damn I hate that champ", welcome tho bruther to the Flash flash rebolation

~Was also wondering if there was a way to make the screen longer by height (if not its fine)

Yes press F1 in game and click the link to standalone player - you can resize the window and it will stretch it to make it taller etc, it is completely possible.

~Was wondering if the difference in engines are only visual

Also features, for example the old engines do not support higher than 30fps etc, rates etc.

~I was wondering if there was a way to search by artist when looking for songs.

You can search by artist on the official website: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...s/FFRSongs.php

This allows you to choose how to search.. Can't do it ingame though unfortunately.

I was wondering if there was a way to search by artist when looking for songs.
You can't search by Authors in R^3, but you can search by in Authors in Velocity Engine. (it's something that has been asked in the past, but it wasn't added yet.)

I suggest playing on all 3 Engines and use the one that feels the best. R^3 is still considered the more popular one due to having more options.

Velocity Engine in Songs -> (you can filter Ascending/Descending for alphabetical order to make it group up properly)

        Reminder of the links of every Engines;

        R^3: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/~velocity/R^3.swf
        Velocity Engine: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...y/ffr_Wide.swf
        Legacy Engine: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/ffrndanotherway.swf

I also suggest using a Standalone Player (highly recommending FP9/10/11 for stability, but depending on your OS, you may want to try the other ones as well.)

FP9 cannot use full screen/rates, but it's technically the most stable one.
Full screen doesn't increase the distance you can see, it's still proportional to the space.
FP10 has rates, but not full screen.
        FP11+ has everything.

Once again, feel free to try multiple flash players and compare them.

I'm just saying all of this because you can have the game opened twice; one for browsing by artists and one for playing if that's how you really want to go about it.

Was also wondering if there was a way to make the screen longer by height (if not its fine)
        The short answer is no.
You can move up the receptors in the Option -> Editor manually to gain a bit of space.
Getting the arrows outside of the game box makes the game unstable so, you probably don't want to do it because of that.

Was wondering if the difference in engines are only visual
The timing window is different in R^3 than the other two Engines. You have to hit more late in R^3 to get a perfect or even amazing (which is the middle frame of a perfect) while the center zone for hitting a perfect in Velocity and Legacy is clearly slightly earlier.

In R^3, The timing window can be modified and moved unlike the other two.

YoshL wrote a nice guide about it; http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=144550

I also recommend Velocity Engine for anti-pa tokens if you ever go for it. It seems more stable for getting averages and most of the tokens were made with that Engine being used in mind.

And finally was wondering if there was compiled lists peoples favorite files or something along those lines
Considering there's no options to rate files (thinking Osu here?), the only data relatively close to this would be the amount of times a song was played, but it's not really relevant quality-wise as the songs with the highest numbers will most likely be older songs that were here for a very long time. You're more likely to find popular/quality songs by asking others about their favorite songs in multiplayer or forums here as of right now.

One thing I can note about this, is that the newer songs are definitely of higher quality in general than the older ones objectively speaking. I'm not talking about the music, but the notes/frames and general structure of the arrow placement. So, that could be one way to give you a smaller selection of songs to try if you don't have the time to sit down and play everything one by one.

So, let's say you're in R^3 browsing songs. You could by example filter by a difficulty range (let's say you want to play difficulty 30 to 45 songs) and then scroll all the way down because the songs are in order in which they were added in the game therefore you're more likely to find songs with a good conversion/sync etc.

Hope this doesn't break any rules
On the contrary, good thread actually, that may give us something to brainstorm a little.
        Feedback is always appreciated.

From what I've seen, for alot of forum stuff, you need 5 posts.. such as to attach images and such.

Perhaps you just need to post more.. I can at least say that one of the rules is to not spam so I would say don't just post to get 5 posts
