Do you ever feel that the song difficulty is not correct?

Sometimes, i play two different songs, and i find that one that was labeled easier than the other is in fact, harder. Do you ever get that feeling?

Many users feel this, but some users find different patterns easier than others. Just a difference of opinion

Well, seeing as how I'm new and not very good at the game, my view is biased -- to me, almost all of the songs seem harder than their difficulty levels would imply. I think lightdarkness makes a good point though. The songs use different patterns, or at least I assume they do since I haven't played a ton of them yet, so songs with patterns you find easier to do will seem easier than songs with patterns you find difficult. They can still be approximately the same difficulty, the difference coming down to the player's skill or preference. For example, I find the left/right and up/down doubles to be the easiest, the ones where the arrows are next to each other a little harder (that should be the left/down and up/right ones IIRC), and the ones where there's one arrow/space in between are the hardest for me right now (should be left/up and down/right). I know it's low level stuff, but right now even that's enough to affect how easy I think a song is.

Quick aside: lightdarkness, is that "FFR Rank last updated" in your signature correct? The last update was on the 11th, 2 weeks ago?

Essentially retired now, but still ranked on the list of FFR's Top One Handers.

once you get used to the game and your pretty good at it....you'll see that most of the ratings do work with the song

I think all the levels are easy-peasy and all should be rated that difficulty.

Some of you people are just too good. :P

I assume that as I get better at the game, the difficulty levels will seem appropriate. But since I am still learning and getting the hang of it, some of the easy games or at least parts of them still seem difficult. That's why I said my view right now is biased. And apparently yours is, too, just from the other extreme.

I totally agree; the ratings are way off. There are tricky songs that are harder than difficult/very difficult songs for example.

Also, every song in the "very difficult" category fits in with the other songs somewhere around standard. The ratings in general are very off. The words don't mean anything, except in comparision to each other, that is a given. However, the words/number of bars don't accurately relate to each other.

Well, some of the songs, such as that Megaman Dr Wily one or whatnot, were REALLY REALLY REALLY OLD.

And the difficulty made more sense back then. PLUS, the difficulty was taken straight from the dwi file, which was harder than the FFR file, because it had weird freeze arrows.

                  So there.

But I do agree with you.

We should use Chardish's proposed system.

Well, no, see, you have, say, BUBBLEMAN. its an easy song besides one circle, yet it's rated as "Very difficult" or something. Even -I- have FCed it, and i suck.

And this is compared to "FF7", which is a FAR more tedious song (faster, has more arrows, lots of circles, very off beat), and yet, it's rated a mere "Dificult".

So yeah, the difficulty system is messed up. Deal =)
