DDR since 1999, SM since 2002, FFR since 2003/2004, and SMO since late 2005. Early on I didn't have a computer and played SM at a friend's house that lived next door to my grandparents, I played more DDR than early ass builds of SM, I sucked at both. No poopy computer until early 2003, some Windows 95 I got for free from an acquaintance, I worked with my dad in construction during some weekends and most summers from ages 8-19, so somewhere in late 2003 I saved up for a custom built PC and got hooked.
SM and Gunzonline were free, and they were my bread and butter. I played SM sometimes but mostly FFR, then one day in late 2005 someone mentioned Charles Lohr's SMO 3.95 and switched over (sorry FFR). These were the days when n1tr0glyc3r1n (an OG oITG developer), and some other SMO admin (friend/partner of Lohr's, whose name I cannot remember) still played their game online with people. It's was DDR crap, ITG 1 & 2, and KBMP back then. KBMP files were like... Vertex BETA vROFL to me when I first started.
SMO was fun af then, Izzy wasn't known, but quickly hated in the forums. jesushatesyou was a God for a while, Bluemystic, Izzy, other people that don't play anymore... Good times, man. I kept playing religiously until about 2009, then got my first serious girlfriend and fell out of it. Noon, Lecka, JazzyJ, and Lebowski were in a clan [rofl] called Stepmania Adventure Friends [SFAT] for a year or whatever.
I didn't live near any ITG machines and was stuck playing an Extreme that was a 20 minute drive from me, getting my parents to take me was like pulling teeth. I wanted to play ITG, all I could do was watch Youtube videos of godly players like Bluemystic, Kevbo, Dukamok, Lil Q, and later on Calimist.
Between early 2010 and 2014 I played SM off and on, a couple months on, 3-6 months off. I remember Staiain on SMO when he was terrible lol. Everytime we played he would always push himself on songs he could barely pass, never really pushed himself for MA. Later on, maybe a year and a half after a long ass break of mine he beat me on js shit consistently. I never had speed, the best I have ever been able to do is AAA Vortex w/60p or something like that. I lost my CRT and fell out of it almost entirely because I absolutely HATE LCD screen gameplay.
I moved from California to Ohio to slim up for the USAF and move in with a good friend of mine stationed at Wright Patt AFB. He bought a house and told me I could live there rent free, but then changed his mind on wanting rent after I bought the plane tickets. So I moved to Ohio, not knowing it's the butt crack of America. July 2014 I got my dedicab on Craigslist, I had been periodically searching for one all over America when Craigslist ad grabbers were still a thing (they didn't go through Google like today). Three to five times a week I would spend an hour a day just looking for keywords, until finally a broken one came up for $900 in Missouri, six hours away. I had only $450-500, so my old best friend helped with the rest (cover the rest, U-haul & gas). I paid him back with $350 interest as thanks, fixed the broken ass machine and got good at the game.
I was still playing SM off and on while I played ITG religiously, I got thin for once in my life, then fast forward to May 2014 when I got my third serious girlfriend. /SMcareer
Well we broke up last December and only recently did I decide to start playing again. I upgraded a spare computer's graphics card to one better than the one in my main PC (GTX 470 vs GTS 250 lmao), hooked the thing up to my gaming monitor that I used for Halo (BenQ XL2430T, 144hz 0ms input lag), took all day yesterday messing with it, and now it's the best SM setup I've had since I started playing the game.
Seriously, it's gorgeous and I want to have other SM players play the thing lol. Detrimentalist lives 3 hours away and we chill sometimes, he might come play someday.

Well that's it, that's my history, I'm back in black. I've seen a lot of players over the years, today's players are obscenely good at the game and I'm scared to see what the future holds. You might catch me in SMO sometime if you play, but you most likely won't catch me playing FFR unless I get ridiculously good at SM again lol
