Convert 200 bpm 4ths stream into nps

    So, I've always been confused when I see people, especially people that play Stepmania, reference bpm and what type of note and then everyone's really impressed and they know exactly what they mean, and I'm just like O_O;

    .
    .
    .

    .
    .
    .
    = 3.33 notes per second

    or anther example,
    300 bpm 16ths would be 20 nps

    Did I get this right?

Re: Convert 200 bpm 4ths stream into nps

I take Beats per minute x notes per beat / 60 seconds

    So 300 BPM x 4 notes per beat = 1200 notes/minute
    1200 / 60 = 20 NPS

NPS has always been a bit misleading in terms of difficulty though, because a 20 NPS jump trill is much easier than 20 NPS stream.

      Right, because
      Code:
      16 notes 1 measure
      --------- x --------- = 4 notes per beat
      1 measure 4 beats
      So,
      Code:
      x beats per minute * y notes per beat / 60 = z notes per second
      I like it

Right, because if you're hitting 12;34;12;34 jumps, that's like 10 hits per second, and only 5 hits per second for each hand.

That's like nothing compared to 1;2;3;4;1;2;3;4 because it's so hard to be accurate and separate your fingers, and then of course streams aren't usually as easy as 1234.

to get the nps of 16th streams divide the bpm by 15, to get the nps of 16th jumpstream with a jump every other note divide the bpm by 10, to get the nps of any note other than 16ths just convert the note to 16ths using simple math.

is expressing my inability to create a creative signature an act of creativity in and of itself?

How is it missleading? For example if it were 32nd notes you would multiply the bpm by 2 and then do the process i mentioned for finding the nps, if it were 24ths you would need to multiply the bpm by 1.5 to get the bpm you would use to convert to nps.
