I'm running 5.0.8. Never had a problem with stuttering before, but something did a do, and now it's annoying as hell. Most likely a problem with Stepmania itself, or possibly my CPU or something. I've tried most things, but nothing works, including window/fullscreen changes with Vsync and stuff and that WaveOut thing. Pls help; thank.

What sort of stuttering? Does it freeze for a little bit and go back or is it just an FPS thing, or...?
Are there any background processes/programs? Do you recall what happened when do got did? Did you install a new theme or anything? Did you try reinstalling SM?

Did you upgrade to windows 10 recently?
I had similar issues and I had to disable the Xbox DVR app to resolve it, also it changed my global video card settings and I had to re-disable vsync from the control panel.
If not, anything else change recently, hardware/software?

No software changes, no hardware changes besides getting a new drive, which isn't the problem because I've tried stepmania on all drives. I did the F3 thing to get the frame stops in the bottom right to tell me how long each frame got stuck in ms. The stuttering is video, but can also sometimes be the sound as well. Nothing affects stepmania, so even if I had like, five instances of Skyrim, it would probably perform the same. I have closed everything but stepmania and it's still the same issues. This is even on a new drive because mine got bricked thanks to Mirco$oft, so it's pretty clean. It's even a SSD.
Fullscreen VSync/literally any frame rate difference does nothing, since it still happens regardless. So what doComment
