                          I don't think the fans would let them get away with changing any aspect of the story. I think regardless of what it ends up being, people are going to be mad about something because it isn't the classic FF7.

                              I thought it looked amazing.

                              I was completely expecting to be disappointed and was actually very impressed.

                              Love how dark it looks. Exactly how I pictured midgar.

                              The original dialogue is pretty garbage so I honestly hope they completely rewrite everything.

                                  They'd have to. In today's society, they could never get away with Barrett's character and dialogue.

                                      Yeah, I think there are several things in the old game that would not translate too well to a modern remake, but I'm fine with that -- I'm mostly interested in the atmosphere.

                                      As an aside, it'd be interesting to see how they handle stuff like Knights of the Round, hah.

                                          Exactly my thoughts after seeing the announcement. I feel like it will be similar to the book to movie/TV problems. If they change the story around too much fans will be quick to grab the pitchforks.

                                              Too early to tell because it was only a cinematic cutscene (wow, sounds familiar, Mr. Kingdom Hearts 3).

                                              I didn't much care for FF7 when I played through it a year ago for my first time. It has an interesting battle system, but other than that, I felt like I was playing multiple storylines rather than this one contained storyline.

                                              I'm optimistic though, maybe they'll make it so every actually makes sense and doesn't feel like it's trying so hard to be "edgy" and "complex".
