Heffalump Hardcore 2010
difficulty 69
29 AAAs
255 FCs
1033 players
rank 100 is 12 clean but with notably many messy scores nearby
Compare to three files that were released around the same time as Heffalump (within about a month):
Posers Listen to Fakebit Music
difficulty 69
38 AAAs
213 FCs
767 players
rank 100 is also 12 clean (incidentally, im rank 100! haha) with similarly messy scores in that range
New Fluttershy (MONSTER MIX)
difficulty 72
48 AAAs
213 FCs
588 players
rank 100 is 6 clean and relatively few messy scores
Can't Hide Your Love
difficulty 71
55 AAAs
171 FCs
792 players
rank 100 is 8 clean with a few messy scores but nowhere near as many as heffalump
Stats discussion:
Despite all being played less, the other files have more AAAs. Heffalump is really hard to AAA for a 69. If you want an even more stark comparison than the files I listed, Twister is a 77 released on the same day as Heffalump and it has more AAAs despite fewer total players.
Heffalump has a few more FCs than the other files I listed, but that doesn't mean it's easy to FC cleanly- there are tons of scores with boos and averages. And it's important to keep in mind that Heffalump has a lot more players (probably because of the name of the song lol.) If you take that into account, even compared to Posers Listen to Fakebit Music, which I think is one of the harder 69s, Heffalump has a lower ratio of FCs to total players.
From checking some of the other files I thought would be likely candidates, it seems Heffalump actually has the lowest ratio of AAAs to total players of any file in the 60s. I might have missed a few but it's certainly a top contender.
Patterns discussion:
Crazy 26 nps rolls including one with a stupidly-difficult-to-PA slowdown at the end.
64th-swing pseudo-minijacks in the ending section. Deceptively hard to hit.
And of course the polyrhythm part with 12th minijacks everywhere.
Also even though it's short, the nerves factor of having a huge difficulty spike in the last part of the song and ending with the most difficult pattern of the file should also be a consideration.
So yeah I'd like to see Heffalump Hardcore 2010 be bumped to a 70something. In my mind, 71.
