Sitting here in the apartment today, somewhat bored. Figure I may as well look into some new games -- anything worth checking out?

Re: Recommend some games, I'm out of the loop again
New games as in current gen, or new games as in "games you've never known about"? What have you played as of yet?
A new game I recommend is Mario Kart 8. It is truly the best Mario Kart I have ever played, and made me enjoy the series a lot, something that each previous iteration failed to do.
An older game I recommend is Atomic Runner on Sega Genesis. The music is phenomenal, and the gameplay is as good as it gets in my opinion. An underrated gem to this day, people refuse to see its blaring qualities. You might want to check it out to see for yourself!Last edited by MarioNintendo; 08-2-2014, 11:00 AM. -

Re: Recommend some games, I'm out of the loop again
I don't have much new suggestions other than Fire Emblem Awakening, Link Between Worlds, Shin Megami Tensei 4, Mario Kart 8 and Project X Zone (if you're into that kind of thing).
But for old, here's a few you might enjoy, if you haven't already:
Atomic Runner (Genesis) - see post above
Herzog Zwei (Genesis) - Early RTS, easy to get into and pretty deep!
OutRun (Arcade)
Road Fighter (Arcade/Famicom) - Game is a short and simple overhead driving thing, but really addicting for some reason. Try to finish it on Level 2 difficulty.
Einhander (PS1)
R-Type III (SNES)
Dragon's Spirit (NES)
Recca (NES/3DS VC)
Dynamite Headdy (Genesis)
Gunstar Heroes (Genesis)
Alien Soldier (Genesis)
Ikaruga (Gamecube/Steam)
X The Ball (Arcade) - Rare made some weird games
Elemental Master (Genesis)
Thunder Force III (Genesis)
Thunder Force IV (Genesis)
Rayforce (Arcade/Saturn/iOS)
That should kill some time.Last edited by MarioNintendo; 08-2-2014, 11:14 AM.Comment

Any Anno title if you've never played them. They're very difficult on hard mode.Comment

The metro 2033/last light series, I've always enjoyed Metro's storylines and wouldn't mind reading the books the games are based off of.
FTL (faster than light), an indy game fairly recently made with probably the best video game music ever (chiptunesque). Sorta feels like youre playing battlestar galactica.
Geist, originally for the gamecube. You play as this guy that gets his soul ripped out of his body, who then gains the ability to possess things/people at will.
Wolfenstein, go punch nazis
Watchdogs, you basically get an opportunity to kill deadmau5
Limbo, one of the creepiest neoplatformers out there
Neverwinter, a just barely not generic f2p MMO based off of DnD. Its got some pretty tight visuals
Don't starve, youre trapped on an island and you need to collect stuff
warframe, be a space ninjaComment

Re: Recommend some games, I'm out of the loop again
It'd be easier to suggest something with some genre/platform reference but I'll mention Escape Goat 2 that is a good puzzle/platformer that came recently on steam.
Some other random I stuff I find enjoyable taking a quick glance on my steam:
Anodyne, La-Mulana, Shovel Knight, Rogue Legacy, Antichamber, Unholy Heights, Ys Origins, Type:Rider.
That'd be actually a legit suggestion for people into that kind of thing.Last edited by AutotelicBrown; 08-2-2014, 11:27 AM.Comment

Re: Recommend some games, I'm out of the loop again
Play worms armageddon shopper, rope race, or warmer mode cuz its slick as hell and feels great to pull off B)
That video sucks though, and there's really nothing else good uploaded on YT but here's a site dedicated to the WA tricks and shit.
But yeah basically it puts you in spiderman's shoes and it feels pretty sweet to play, if you want something with a difficult learning curve.

If you're still looking for stuff you should try Alundra for PlayStation. It's like Zelda but with more story and much harder puzzles/enemies. Should be easy to find an ISO and emulator for it if you can't buy it somehow. It's an oldy but a not very well known one unfortunately.boopComment

i don't remember what you're into but Transistor turned out to be a pretty dope game and it's 33% off
also I've gotten back into a Dwarf Fortress kick, that game never fails to entertain. However, there's a substantial initial time investment required to learn the game
edit: also nidhogg

Get the anything Ys on steam. (Ys 1/2 has bump combat which is outdated and maybe a bit rough for newbies but its still excellent)Last edited by Coolboyrulez0; 08-3-2014, 10:58 AM.Comment
