    Lifting shoes / footwear

Curious what everyone's thoughts are, here.

Personally, I'm planning to just get a pair of Chuck Taylors (or possibly these), but what do you all prefer?

Picked up a pair of Nike Romaleos. They're nice.

    Those Adidas are quite nice.

For squatting, anything with an inclined heel but also a flat and wide base will work. Incline makes it easier, flat base is recommended for stability (I've squatted plenty in my other nikes and wobbling is a real annoyance).

For deadlifting, barefoot or shoes that are paper thin are best IMO. You want to be as close to the ground as possible.

I just wear Vans for pretty much everything. Those Adidas are ideal for squatting and chucks being ideal for DL.

Was actually looking into the Nike Romaleos as well (apparently Adidas Adipower vs. Nike Romaleos is an ongoing debate in the weightlifting community).

Edit: Screw it, ordering both -- will return the one I don't decide to keep.

oly shoes: i got a free pair of used ristos off of some dude @ pendlayforums.com a while back. They are really nice. You can find them for less than $200 and are handmade

edit: they are super beat up now. I've been considering checking out StrengthShop's shoes https://www.strengthshopusa.com/shoe...ing-shoes.html ...but i can't find any information as to the quality. seems legit enough though

Shoes arrived -- prefer the Romaleos (red w/gold heels). Adipowers are a little too tight.

It's like only red romaleos exist. Everyone that has a pair at my gym has red.

I wanted a different color but the had none in stock :(

I like my Adipowers. Heard good things about the Nikes too. Probably a lot of other decent heeled shoes really. I know a lot of guys like the adistars.

I have chucks for pulling in right now, but I might ask for Mark Bell's reebok (crossfit) power shoe called the CrossFit Lite TR I think for christmas.

i wear NB minimus. i use them for both running and lifting since i don't like having to wear two different pairs of shoes. i don't like the heel-inclined shoes. i don't like having heavy shoes when i lift, it just restricts my movement. i also don't punch the ground hard when i do PC&Js since i usually go into a gradual deep front squat (and i split-jerk if it's mad heavy), so i don't worry about feet soreness either.

though if you drop the weight on your foot, or kick a weight on accident with your toe you're kind of fucked

I always keep 3 pairs of shoes in my gym bag.

1 pair of Adidas wrestling shoes for Deadlifts, and any pulling motion.
1 pair of Adipowers for squats, overhead lifts, and oly lifts.
1 pair of Nike Free 5.0 for cardio, seated lifts, and bench press.

My best all around shoe was the flat soled pumas. They looked good, amazing grip for agility and for sumo deadlifts. The only con to them were that they tore apart my feet, blisters for days.
