question about making voice recordings of different volume at equal volume

I will often record voice audio using different takes of the microphone, and I'm not very precise about how close my mouth is to the microphone, so this results in different degrees of loudness for different recordings.

Is there a way to take multiple voice recordings -- each of different volumes -- and apply an effect or modifier that sets a uniform volume for all of them?

Re: question about making voice recordings of different volume at equal volume

thanks a bunch, KgZ. your response is exactly what I was looking for.

some background: I'm not interested in being professional about this, but am looking for a fix I can do in a few minutes. the purpose of this is basically so I can memorize vocabulary words while I work out, so I'm likely the only one listening to these. (yes, I realize how nerdy this is.)

I'll be using Audacity's default compressor for this. if anyone knows a better alternative compressor I should be using, let me know.

I think normalization would be a simpler and more appropiate solution for your needs.
