opened MIDIs in FL wont play

what the crap!? every MIDI i try and open up in Fruity Loops wont play. like, all the notes are there and what not, and it looks like it's playing, but it wont play. the MIDIs play regularly outside of FL, but when i open them or import them with FL they wont play. i must be doing something wrong, i just dont know what it could be...

and for the record, i dont really know anything about FL. it's a bit much for me, and all i want to do is make an MP3 out of the MIDI.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

u have to plug in a sound, fruity doesnt automatically retrieve sounds from the midi wavetable.
I'm sure you can find a free midi to mp3 converter somewhere on the net.

You don't need to convert it to mp3. Fruity can play MIDIS but you will need to find suitable samples for it to use. You can't just load up a MIDI and press play. You have to put suitable samples on the channels for it to work. A MIDI is just information telling the instrument how to play, it doesn't contain any audio data.
