    How is your social life right now?

    I want to make a thread where we can talk about our current social situations and others can comment/help. Feel free to be as detailed as you'd like, incuding stories of social growth if you'd like.

    I'll wait until I get to a computer to write out mine in more detail, but basically I'm 100 miles away from my gf (get to see her every 2 weeks though) and my only interactions are through classes and pick up soccer. I've been getting better at being alone though.

      wait, are you getting better at feeling lonely? or getting better at feeling all right while you're alone? those are different things haha.

      my social life is pretty nonexistent right now, which is new for me. I'm moving within the next few months and plan on changing that to at least some degree, but to be honest, I don't feel too down about it. kind of odd considering I do consider myself to be an extrovert.

          At the moment? Moribund. At best. It's mostly a product of where I live - when I was still in Florida I used to hang out with my friends (including Danceguy below) fairly often, but since I now live hours away from the nearest city...


          It's a good thing I am antisocial by nature otherwise I'd go crazy here.

              As far as friends go I think I have too many. It's kinda hard. When I got back into high school I didn't have any friends. It was hard breaking that 'one friend' barrier. As soon as I did that I started making friends everywhere through other friends. Now if I walk through the halls almost everyone says hello to me, and I've even had a few random people walk with me out of nowhere to tell me how they've improved 'x' skill and they want me to see what they can do.

              The reason it's hard is because I get drained really quickly when I'm around people. By the time I get home I already want to sleep from how tiring it is to be in social situations.

              I think I've come a far distance from how I was when I entered though. Kind of proud of myself, kind of want to punch myself for making so many friends that want to spend time with me.

              As far as girlfriends go...welp

              edit: reading the other guys' posts I realize that I'm probably going to lose contact with most these people. Maybe I should be happy with what I have while I have it. D:

                  Right now, nonexistent. I'm almost always working anyway so it doesn't bother me that I don't have one. I did make a pretty good friend on FFR recently though that I talk to all the time now, so that's good enough for an antisocial person like me.

                          If you asked me a few years ago, I'd have said pretty good but I've mostly withdrawn from most social activity, and have little interest in really going out and trying to re-establish social connections, at least around here.

                          I still have a pretty large online circle that i keep up with, and that is good enough for me right now.

                              Started out college extremely alone and depressed, but now I have a lovely girlfriend whom I love very much (and she loves me, yay!).

                              I have a small group of friends that I enjoy eating meals with and hanging out with from time to time when any of us have any spare time at all, which is relatively rare with our busy college schedules.

                              I used to really want to get to know a ton of people, but since I prefer to not drink very often if at all, I have found that this has placed me out of roughly 75% of the social circles here, which is kind of sad. But whatever, not like I really have the time for lots of people anyhow. Barely have enough time for my girlfriend, my studies, cello, and FFR.

                              I would say I started college very alone, but now I am happy.

                                                  Even if you have completely acclimated to it, that's got to be effecting your mood on some small level. I know what it's like to spend a lot of time by yourself in your house. Good to get out with others from time to time, like sunshine or jogging.
