    Steven stone remix

    Things I'm proud of :
-How I reproduced the ~dramatic~ and ~dynamic~ atmosphere of the intro

-What I could do to innovate within the original matter (trust me, touching to Pokémon's music is a fucking tough task when you're not academically learned in the matter)

    - The (electronic) guitar riffs I put starting from 2:06

    - The super cool part that goes on which follows actually the exact same chord progressions and variations of the last part of the "encounter" theme. (because I fucking love that kind of easter egg, I don't know how to describe how it's supposed to feel if you don't get it)
    - THE SOLO I PULLED OUT ON THESE VERY CHORDS AT 2:42!!!!!!!!!!!

    - The drum breaks I made on the RAPPED section (and the whole climate of that part too, as, how I modified the chords and the melody for the first measures)

Things I'm not proud of :
    - The structure is kind of messy in when I make the whole thing loop for the second time (the part before I switch to the totally different section)
    - The transitions in this portion of the music are really not good to my appreciation. It's like that because I didn't found another way to do so actually.

As a France native, on a scale of 10 to 20 how hype are you about XY being based on your homeland?

Sick stuff, dude. Working with GBA sounds is tough--ChaoticMarin tells me that the original devs had to sacrifice audio quality to cram them onto the hardware.

@igotrythm: The crazy stuff developers did to fit their music onto that sound system...

@Scylax: Listening to this with a pair of nice headphones at full volume it's very ... loud. Painfully, if I must be honest. I don't know if it's because you're not using any sort of limiter while you're mixing or if you don't actually have a lot of control over the song or something but the volume is very loud and shrill. I'd personally advise working with that a little if possible and releasing a revised version, as this can be a rather serious problem...

If nothing else, it's good practice for later songs.

@igotrhythm I still can't believe Pokemon is happening in my country. Other than that I'm (I was) really really hyped because that's really crazy to realize that but
        Still can't believe it.

@ChaoticMarin Yes the sound is kinda loud maybe I should just reduce the volume of the whole track for a bit? (I already adjusted the mastering for a bit because the basses were eating a bit of the whole place at first)
I don't really know how to soften the mastering without diluting the impact for a bit but I know it's a real problem in some of my other pieces.
Gee I guess I should really get a proper mastering software (I already use some little utilities there are in FL Studio as Soundgoodizer or FL Multiband Compressor but they don't really let me touch the sound in detail)

@KgZ Waaah I exactly see what you mean!! I felt obliged to integrate everything I had in mind because I really wanted the piece to feel personnal though. And I wanted to make the music the shortest I could despite everything I wanted to put in.
What should I have removed ? Do you think extending it for 2 minutes longer would have made it ? I fear the final result would be irritating if I made it last for too long so.......

@Scylax: Lowering the master volume is always an easy method of getting this to work, but in my experience it's never the best solution. (You wind up making already quiet parts quieter) Soundgoodizer doubles as a limiter so that's not something you need to worry about.

You want to look at your piano rolls and see which ones are spiking really high in volumes and just lower them individually to preserve an overall loudness whilst reducing the ceiling. Alternatively you can apply the fruity equalizer and lower the treble in the song which in my experience makes things sound less shrill.

Those are my suggestions--But of course simply lowering the master volume is almost always the easiest method of solving the problem. Lowering the volume on my PC to 50% seems to work well and I can then listen fine at any given portion of the song, but Soundgoodizer tends to try and equalize your volume mixing for you so that might not translate to FL Studio okay.

Roger! I'll keep your post in a corner of my notes so I'll read it again when it will come in handy.

FUCK I can't read your notes since they blend in with the picture you chose (lol white text).

Maybe you could have just annotated the video itself?

It's strange because they're perfectly displayed and readable from my computer and it looks like it fucks up on everybody else's screen I DON'T GET WHY
