So I got my first real recording with my "band" (not solidified) and I'm using 2 microphones to record trumpet, sax, drums, and bass. One for trumpet/sax and one for drum/bass. The drum bass mic is less sensitive tan the trumpet sax.
I know I'm skimping on equipment but I was wondering if I would be able to get by with 2 microphones like that without the instruments registering too much on the different microphones, since the drums register both at once. Is it worth using four separate microphones? (which I can't really do now because I only have an m-track with 2 XLR ports)
by the way this is the recording and i know the trumpet was maxing out https://soundcloud.com/skiball/brokestick-funk
