I don't usually watch anime, but I make an exception for Pokémon.
Pokémon Origins is an anime special that follows the rough plot of the first games in the franchise, as opposed to the adventures of Ash in the main Pokémon anime series. It follows Red and the rival Green as they take the same steps players did way back in 1996 on the GameBoy. Along the way, the anime answers questions such as why gym leaders always get progressively more challenging.
Also the soundtrack is really, really good.
Four episodes were aired in Japan yesterday.
