    Do I have permission to step this song?

    So I recently found a song by Jeff Beck (a very famous guitar player) that is from 1975:

    I want to step this song but I have a few questions about what could be considered permission and not. First of all, this song was featured in guitar hero which partly inspired me to want to step this, and I do not know if that affects anything. Secondly, I want to step a live recording of the song (is that considered different from the studio version?). Thirdly, I do not think I would get any kind of response if I tried to send Jeff Beck or the record label an email. Lastly, I recently read this thread: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=131494
    and was wondering if this would be one of those few times where implied permission would be valid. If not, its not a big deal, just wanted some advice

      You need permission from the artist/label to use any song for FFR (take a look at this thread). I don't know anything about live/studio quality even if you did get permission. I would imagine live would sound crappier and probably be harder to sync, not to mention a tad annoying with the crowd screaming etc...

          If the live recording is you playing and singing on an actual guitar then that would technically be ok

                  The site does not have permission from Jeff Beck, as far as I know. Meaning you can still step it for Stepmania if you feel like it, but it would be rejected from FFR.

                  Additionally, being a live recording it is lower quality, contains distracting elements such as the crowd's whistling and clapping, and is non-static BPM making it incredibly tricky to step. Even if we did have permission I wouldn't recommend stepping this song, more trouble than it's worth probably.
