    Some major ddr questions (xbox)

I'm thinking about getting started w/ ddr now that i found this site. i looked online and found ddr ultramix for xbox. that part was easy.

But oh my god the pads! you got the soft pad, the soft non-slip pad, the soft pad with 1" of foam! Whats the difference! and how does it being non slip make the price jump $15??

Price is a major issue so dont even suggest a metal pad. My main question is is getting a non slip pad or the 1" foam pad worth the extra $$?

    Please help.

You definatly want to get a non slip pad, otherwise your pad will be all over the place and hard to play.

As for me, i have a metal pad, and if you are going to become a serious DDR Player, you might want to consider looking into one in the future.

More proof that FFR promotes DDR more than Konami thinks.

      Welcome to the site acappella!

You almost have to experiment and see what brands you like best. I personally use metal pads but you may be able to get by with some of the cheapest pads ever made, I know I did for many months until I went to metal. You can also by cheap pads and then mod them or tape them to the floor.

      Cheers,

I preffer to go with the metal pads. I am getting two of them as soon as I move. Some people go through the cheaper ones like underwear just for a heads up

If you just want to start use a soft pad and modify it to make it last and not move.Soft pads really have no difference but thinkness, so just go for a decent one, or the official pad that comes with the game.(just buy a $20 one)

If you're a semi decent player, modding the pads will only make them last about 5 months longer at the most. If you want a good pad, that will last basically...forever (unless you treating it poorly) go for a metal one.

But as he said, he doesn't have enough money for the metal ones, so I'd go for the Red Octane Ignition 2.0s. I've had them for a year now, and nothing's gone wrong.

I've seen metal pads for less than the Red Octane Ignition 2.0...

while we're at it, how much would an actual arcade pad cost? hell, whats the price on an entire DDR machine? and i'm serious, when i get enough money and after i buy other more important things (car, house, etc) i seriously wanna buy a DDR machine.

aside from that, what's a good but inexpensive metal pad?
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

wow... the machine is around 3k (well, from what I have heard, I've never actually looked into it myself)...just think...what about all of the repairs? what if you break it and that part can't be fixed? that would be a whole lot of money put into something you can no longer use. I don't know how hard you are on the machine..but one place where I go to, their machine is under repairs ALL the time.. and...just hope the neighbours don't complain about the volume level...unless if that is adjustable, I wouldnt know. I've never seen it done
