    Legislative Foot-Dragging: Should Feds Intervene?

As reported by Pink News, Montana has a law on the books that has been unconstitutional since a 1997 ruling by the state Supreme Court (and SCOTUS agreed with them in 2003), but the state legislature has yet to make the proper amendments to the law because of fierce opposition from the Republican-dominated House.

My question is this: At what point should federal authorities intervene, if any, and say "this has gone on for long enough"? Yes, such activity would smack of a police state, but at least then the federal government would be doing what it thinks is right instead of twiddling their thumbs and waiting for something to demand their attention. (Ever see the play Twelve Angry Men? Now try it with the US House of Representatives at 435 members.)
